YIBIR cannot sensibly be opposed in the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes (3.35) as Newmarket’s Guineas Festival gets underway.
After a win in York’s Group 2 Great Voltigeur last August, the Charlie Appleby trainee scored at Belmont Park the following month before collecting in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Del Mar in November. William Buick’s mount will go off at prohibitive odds, but enjoys a class edge on his five opponents.
Appleby supplies the favourite for the Listed Newmarket Stakes in the form of Nations Pride. However Roger Varian’s SUBASTAR impressed on his debut at the track last September, and has plenty more to offer. Jockey David Egan has bright prospects of an ITV double aboard ABLE KANE in the Betfair Daily Rewards Handicap (3.00).
