ITV Our House viewers baffled by Martin Compston 'Greenock in England' passport error

Martin Compston is back on our television screens starring in ITV's latest thriller drama Our House.

Compston, originally from Greenock, plays ladies man and cheating husband Bram Lawson in the TV adaptation of Louise Candlish bestselling novel of the same name.

The 37-year-old actor has been praised for his performance so far in the four-part drama, but eagle-eyed fans noticed a baffling mistake in Tuesday nights episode.

Despite only being in shot for a few seconds, fans took to Twitter as the episode aired as they couldn't believe Compston's character's passport read 'Greenock, England'.

Fans were baffled by the mistake (ITV)

One eagle-eyed viewer tweeted: "Couldn't resist watching ep 3 of new @ITV drama #OurHouse, based on the novel by @louise_candlish, via the @itvhub but there's something that should have been a fraud red flag right here... Greenock in England is it now aye @martin_compston? Get the @greenocktele investigating!"

Another wrote: " @martin_compston your passport on ‘our house’ says Greenock, England !!"

"Bram has a fabulous Greenock accent, but odd, since he apparently grew up in the house where Maureen Beattie still lives, near Peckham," another tweeted.

Another user joked: " @martin_compston ur no welcome in Greenock anymore causea this"

The Line of Duty actor has been vocal that Bram in Our House isn't his typical character and is slightly out of his comfort zone.

Despite not speaking very highly of his new character, he told Radio Times that despite his actions he is also a "nice guy".

"On the page, he's an absolute b******," admits Compston. "The producers have all been very kind because they said that's one of the reasons they came to me because you have to make him likeable.

"As an actor, as I play the scenes I also have to remember some of the stuff he's done.

"You have to keep that at the forefront because otherwise, he becomes a psychopath, that he's sort of this nice guy regardless of what he's done.

"You have to really grab on to the moments where he is a good guy - there are few and far between.

"He's like, 'when everything's going well, it just feels all that mundane' - and he needs to inject the chaos into it, he needs a bit of excitement."

Compston concludes: "I don't think he's inherently a bad guy at all, he's made a couple of really stupid mistakes which probably in terms of a marriage are unforgivable, but once that sort of spirals, he's just way out of his depth."

Our House continues tonight on ITV at 9pm.
