ITV Masked Singer cast characters revealed ahead of new series including first duo

The Masked Singer will be returning to ITV for a fourth series.

The ITV show, in which a panel guesses the identities of mystery stars performing live in disguise, is returning this autumn with a new cast of 12 characters. The celebrity singing show will include huge names disguised as Tomato Sauce, a Cactus, Scissors and an Astronaut.

Former England footballer Peter Crouch and professional dancer Oti Mabuse will join returning panellists Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall as they try to work out who is behind the mask. Peter is stepping in for comedian Mo Gilligan, who is unavailable this season due to touring commitments, but will be making a surprise appearance. Comedian Joel Dommett will once again be presiding over the singing competition as host.

Cactus will take to the stage dressed as a superhero in a pink and yellow cape with a matching mask, while Candlestick will debut in a brown and gold sculpted number. Other colourful contestants include the show's first duo - Pillar and Post - whose outfit features one person wrapped in letters and another dressed as a post box - while Astronaut looks dapper in a white spacesuit with gold trim.

Pig, dressed in a waistcoat with pink tartan socks and a multi-coloured crochet jacket, will also try to stop the judges guessing their real identity. The new line-up is completed by Sea Slug, Pearly King, Odd Socks, Onomatopoeia and Prawn Cocktail.

The first series of The Masked Singer was won by Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, who performed as Queen Bee, while Joss Stone, who was dressed as Sausage, took the crown at the end of the second season. The most recent series was won by Natalie Imbruglia, whose hits include Torn and Wrong Impression, dressed as a Panda.

She beat Charlotte Church, who was disguised as Mushroom, during a closely-fought final studio audience vote. The series also featured Destiny's Child star Michelle Williams, classical singer Aled Jones, former England footballer Michael Owen, singer Will Young and broadcaster Gloria Hunniford.
