Love Island's meet the parents episode is one of the most popular segments of the ITV2 dating show and this year's didn't disappoint. There were tears, reassurances and some home truths told as the Islanders were reunited with their families and friends who dropped in for a special visit on the eve of the final.
Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page's romance received the seal of approval from their parents with Tasha's dad Tarek saying: "You can see it in your eyes, you’re sparkling." And he told her: "First time I’ve seen that with a boy.”
Dami Hope didn't receive as warm a reception from his other half Indiyah Polack's mum Dee and sister Shak. Dee said about his cheating while Indiyah was in Casa Amor: "The behaviour, and I’m sure Shak will tell Dami, he’s not been cleared yet. He’s not cleared in my eyes yet either…” And when Dee met Dami she said: “So explain the three-way kiss…”

But things went swimmingly for fishmonger Luca Bish whose dad Michael arrived wearing fish flops. He said about his partner Gemma Owen: “She puts you straight doesn’t she.” And Maria added about Gemma: “First night I said they fancy each other, I knew it. I love the values and morals she has.”
Gemma's mum Louise said about her dad Michael watching at home: "Honestly, he is really proud of you, really proud.” Meanwhile Davide's mum Nadia said about his romance with actress Ekin-Su: "But I can see she is being sincere. The way she looks at you, she is head over heels.”
And Ekin-Su’s brother told Davide: “I’ve never seen my sister look at a guy the way she looks at you. Clearly there’s something she sees in you. She’s my sister, she deserves the best, she really does, I’m not just saying that. I hope you’re willing to give her the best.”
But some fans were feeling awkward watching from home as they watched the scene outside the villa in Mallorca. The Twitter account for former Island Jay Younger run by his friends observed: "Imagine the first time you meet the parents you’re wearing a thong swimsuit."
@nicholas_rowe1 agreed: "Oh I know! They obviously knew the parents were coming in. You’d think they’d have gone and changed into something more appropriate!" @MaddieRose91 joked about the scenes: "'Here dad meet my new GF, please don’t take notice that she is basically nude.'"
@C0urtneyEvans said: "It’s just pure embarrassing. It’s also respect for your other halves family too." @Cherno_Samba10 agreed: "I was thinking that, walking in front of your parents with your a*** hanging out!" And @XanderinSoho said: "Not quite how you'd normally expect the meeting of parents to go."
But @akirasnut tweeted: "The boys were literally shirtless stop deeping it smh." @Denneeze200 said: "Majorca is hot as hell I’m sure the parents would have loved to be in their swim wear." @krissybow86 replied: "This isn't the 1900s ffs I'm sure women can wear what they like infront of who they like?" @Alpha_2020_No1 clapped back: "So? Women can wear what they want!" And @demiswainson771 said: "They’ve seen it for weeks now what difference does it make??"
