Love Island came under fire as Davide Sanclimenti and Gemma Owen went on their first date.

Michael Owen's daughter was initially paired with Liam Llelwyn on season eight of the popular dating programme. However, the show was rocked by drama last night when she recoupled with Davide.

The decision was hit by controversy as fans criticised the eight year age gap between Davide, 27, and Gemma, 19. The two received a message in tonight's show to inform them they would be going on their first date.
