Love Island came under fire as Gemma Owen's new partner was unveiled.
The popular dating programme returned for season eight last night. Host Laura Whitmore shocked the new contestants when she announced the public would be deciding the first couples for this season.
Michael Owen's daughter, Gemma, is participating on the programme this series and was coupled up with Liam Llelwyn. However, the 19-year-old had her head turned when Davide Sanclimenti entered the Majorcan villa in last night's premiere.

Davide discovered at the end of yesterday's episode he would be able to select who he will couple up with. Gemma confessed she was blown away by the 27-year-old.
The two engaged in a discussion at the start of Tuesday's episode and spoke about their attraction to one another. Liam later spoke in the beach hut and admitted he was concerned Davide had been "eyeing up" Gemma since he entered the villa.
Liam's fears were realised when Davide decided he would couple up with Gemma. However, viewers following the show on Twitter blasted the recoupling due to the eight year age gap between Davide and Gemma.
Chloe said: "Yeah I’m sick to my stomach."
Evie added: "27 and 19 this is a sick joke"
@TheLifeOfCoko tweeted: If he picks Gemma, I’m going to be sick. 27 and 19"
@shallah98 commented : "This Davide-Gemma arc is making me sick"
Faith posted: "Something about Gemma going for Davide when she’s 19 and he’s 27 doesn’t sit right with me"
Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
