ITV Love Island spot tell-tale clue as to which islander is going to have 'terrible time' in the villa

They've not even spent their first night in the villa - on-screen at least - and Love Island fans already know which of the new contestants is going to have a 'terrible time' in the villa. The new winter edition of the ITV2 dating show kicked off on Monday night (January 16) with 10 new islanders making their way into the famous villa.

But it isn't the one viewers have come to know and love over the years as the ITV2 dating show has returned to South Africa for the first winter series since the coronavirus pandemic. And during the first episode of the ninth series, fans saw Maya Jama take over hosting duties after Laura Whitmore announced she was stepping down from the role last year.

And while fans were praising the 28-year-old for her debut on the show, all eyes were on the islanders as the first coupling took place. Kicking off the coupling was biomedical student Tanya Manhenga, who chose airport security officer Shaq Muhammad. Lana Jenkins, a make-up artist from Luton, chose to couple up with the show’s first visually impaired contestant, Ron Hall.

After coupling and recoupling a number of times, Kai Fagan, a PE and science teacher from Manchester, ended up with Tanyel Revan, a hairstylist from north London. Anna-May Robey, a payroll administrator from Swansea, was ultimately coupled with TV salesman Haris Namani, from Doncaster.

And last but by no means least, the two remaining islanders – actress Olivia Hawkins, who initially chose to couple up with Kai, and farmer and TikTok star Will Young – formed the final couple and things got off to an awkward start as Will leaned in to kiss Olivia on the cheek, but as he went to hug her she appeared to pull away.

Things only went from bad to worse for the pair after the 23-year-old was quick to pull over ring girl Olivia to the bean bags for their first proper chat. However, Olivia appeared unimpressed as Will revealed he had the initials of a girl he met on holiday tattooed on his ankle. "Why would you tell me that? You should have lied!" she said.

But it appears that is the least of Will's worries as eagle-eyed viewers spotted his first mistake - and it was choice of seating. Loyal fans of Love Island will know that the yellow beanbag was thought to be 'cursed' during the most recent summer series last year as the islanders realised that anyone who sat on it ended up being caught up in the 'drama'.

And they think it could now spell trouble for Will. Love Island 2022 finalist Dami Hope was quick to notice and tweeted: "How you gon sit on the yellow bean bag on your first day, cmon bro #LoveIsland." Those running Lana's Twitter page while she's in the villas, despite new rules being in place, wrote: "Will used the yellow bean bag, it’s over Will, you cursed the devil #LoveIsland."

@annniepw said: "Will is on that yellow bean bag.. I fear he is going to have a terrible time #LoveIsland." @melvinjtk commented: "Will has already opted to sit on the yellow bean bag. #LoveIsland." @island_2022 posted: "Sitting on the yellow bin bag maaaan that’s not good bro! Did you not learned anything last season? #LoveIsland." @courtneyb19x added: "Will chilling on the yellow beanbag is asking for trouble #loveisland."
