ITV Love Island's Tasha's family respond to 'ableist' comments after Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis spoke out

Tasha Ghouri's 'team' on the outside world are backing her every move as she goes on a rollercoaster journey in the Love Island villa. The model and dancer got off to a good start in Majorca when the public picked for her to be coupled up with Andrew Le Page.

Things appeared to be going well for the pair until the bombshells started making an appearance and Tasha, 23, appeared open to getting to know some of the new boys. But things really changed for the pair thanks to the dramatic return of Casa Amor.

After the boys and girls spent a few days apart, the main villa and Casa Amor islanders were reunited earlier in the week, forcing each to choose between staying faithful to their original partner or dumping them for one of the bombshells. Andrew and Tasha, who were the show’s only original couple, both chose to recouple with new arrivals Coco and Billy Brown.

Andrew let his head turn after he discovered from the six new girls that Tasha had doubts over her feelings for him. But despite getting close to Coco, Andrew appeared to attempt to rekindle his relationship with Tasha. However, there was trouble in paradise after Tasha discovered Andrew had withheld information from her concerning an intimate moment he shared with Coco.

Things came to a head in Friday’s episode and the fallout continued on Sunday as Tasha returned Andrew's ring after he put it in her suitcase during Casa Amor. But a crushed Andrew continued his attempts to win back Tasha. As the pair spoke at the fire pit, Andrew said: "I wanna say I’m truly sorry for not telling you the whole truth. I should have…

“If there was a slight chance then I promise you right now, you wouldn’t regret it.” Tasha appeared torn, telling Andrew: "For me, it’s genuinely tarnished what we had." Tasha also shed a few tears to Ekin-Su as she discussed her dilemma and admitted to feeling bad for sharing cuddles with Billy while in bed.

But some viewers haven't been kind about Tasha, the show's first deaf contestant, online and her family and friends who are managing her social media while she's on the ITV2 dating show have hit out. "Team Tasha would like to reiterate that ableism is never ok," a post on her Instagram Story read.

It featured a screengrab of an awful comment under an Instagram post. It also included a response from those running Tasha's account.

It read: "It's people and comments like this which impact on the deaf community who fear speaking. Tasha speaks perfectly fine and your ableism comments are gross." It comes after Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis shared a powerful response video to a video of Tasha's voice being mocked on TikTok.

Tasha's team shared a picture of an article discussing Rose's move and quoted a tweet she wrote which said: "Ableism comment is not only harmful to Tasha, it's also harmful to the deaf community, Be kind." She shared the message in response to another tweet which read: "'Tasha has a cochlear implant and thinks she can now raise her voice as loud as she wants.' This might shock some of you, but deaf people can get angry too. They can raise their voice as well. #LoveIsland."
