ITV Love Island's Luca Bish gets surprise support from Nick Cave as he pens message about islander's parents

Luca Bish has had some unexpected support while he's in the Love Island villa. The fishmonger has come under fire in recent days following the fallout from the ITV dating show's 'Movie Night'. Luca hit out after watching clips of partner Gemma, 19, flirting with another boy during Casa Amor.

After watching one of the clips, Luca exploded: "I’m telling you now, I don’t even want to speak to her. "I’m f***ing fuming. I am not going f***ing near that bird mate. Bring me a f***ing bird in, watch me then flirt. Trust me when I say, if she wants to play it down to me I will f***ing explode. I can’t be with someone like that, sorry."

Pointing to his snake tattoo, Luca added: "See this tattoo on my chest, that’s what she is." Gemma said she didn't see anything wrong in what he had seen and vehemently denied 'entertaining' Billy Brown's flirty advances. After a frosty exchange between the pair, they seemed to be back on good terms.

But as well as his reaction to the clips of Gemma, Luca also came under fire for his treatment of Tasha Ghouri. He was heard saying 'Tasha who?' in clip from Casa Amor and while giggling with the boys, he repeated the comment with a smile on his face. He also got annoyed on Andrew Le Page's behalf as he appeared unphased by the clips of his now-girlfriend kissing Billy.

Earlier this week, Luca's family took to social media to share an apology in a statement, saying they "don’t condone" his behaviour. The message on the account, which is being run by the 23-year-old's sister, read: "I want to apologise on behalf of Luca for his insensitive reaction on last night's episode. I know that when he watches it back, he will be embarrassed and deeply apologetic.

"We as his family don't condone his behaviour last might, but we do understand he is in an intense environment where his actions are heightened. Last night was not reflective of the boy we all know and love at home. Please be aware death threats and nasty comments totally overstep the mark and something we has a family should not have to ensure, for this reason we have turned off the comments and messages."

The note then ended: "For all those who have sent messages checking in on us, we would like to thank you very much and we see you." It comes after Luca's sister Claudia said the abuse she had seen her brother had received had caused her to be 'sick' from crying so much.

And now, Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave has spoken out in support of Luca's family. Penning a lengthy message on Instagram, the musician told how the 23-year-old's parents were a great support to him when his son, Arthur, died.

Cave and fashion designer wife Susie's son Arthur died aged 15 in 2015. In a Q&A answer on his blogging site The Red Hand Files, when asked what the biggest difference is between himself and his spouse, who he’s been married to since 1999, Nick replied: "At the moment, the defining difference between Susie and me is that she watches Love Island, and I don’t."

He went on: "Susie watches Love Island because we know one of the contestants, Luca. Luca was a school friend of our twins, Arthur and Earl. As a consequence, Susie and I became friends with Luca’s parents, Maria and Michael. Maria is an antique dealer. Michael is a fishmonger. Luca is a fishmonger too.

"After Arthur died, in the early days of that terrible, chaotic first week, Maria turned up on our doorstep with a tray of lasagna and basically looked after us. She barely said anything to us. She made us cups of tea. She cooked for us. She was just there.

"She was the one constant through a time of horror and confusion, when scores of despairing and commiserating people came and went. We will never forget her kindness. Even in the first week, when the world seemed suddenly and shockingly defined by an unspeakable and distorting cruelty, Maria reminded us that there was good in the world.

"She also served as a lesson in how to deal with grieving people – you don’t need to say anything, just do something; make them a cup of tea, cook them dinner." He added that Luca’s father, Michael, a fishmonger, still brings fresh fish round to their house "without a word" and without charging them for it.

"He pretends to charge us for it, but we know that he doesn’t. These people, Luca’s parents, are as good as people get, and they love their son, Luca.," Nick continued. "So, Susie watches Love Island and cheers him on, and hopes that he will win. I also hope that Luca wins, and wins soon, because then I can get the f**king TV back."
