ITV Love Island fans make same observation about South Africa location as they spot 'worrying' signs

Love Island fans have been commenting on the choice of location for the new series, claiming it could have been filmed closer to home after spotting 'worrying' signs. It's already been a busy time in the villa despite the show only returning to screens on Monday (January 16).

Ten new islanders made their way to South Africa for only the second-ever winter edition of the ITV2 dating show. It is the first time in three years that the hit programme has returned to screens in January due to the pandemic.

The first coupling took place during episode one earlier this week with biomedical student Tanya Manhenga kicking things off by choosing to partner with security officer Shaq Muhammad. Lana Jenkins, a make-up artist from Luton, chose to couple up with the show’s first visually impaired contestant, Ron Hall.

After coupling and recoupling a number of times, Kai Fagan, a PE and science teacher from Manchester, ended up with Tanyel Revan, a hairstylist from north London. Anna-May Robey, a payroll administrator from Swansea, was ultimately coupled with TV salesman Haris Namani, from Doncaster.

And last but by no means least, the two remaining islanders – actress Olivia Hawkins, who initially chose to couple up with Kai, and farmer and TikTok star Will Young – formed the final couple and things got off to an awkward start as Will leaned in to kiss Olivia on the cheek, but as he went to hug her she appeared to pull away.

But since then, the series' first bombshell, Tom Clare has entered the villa and stolen Michelle Keegan body double Olivia. Tom’s decision has left Olivia’s former partner Will, a farmer and TikTok star, vulnerable to dumping after he received a text confirming the first exit is on the horizon.

To shake things up further, viewers were also told to expect two new bombshells in Wednesday evening's episode (January 18). The voice of Love Island’s Iain Stirling revealed 25-year-old model and property developer Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown and 24-year-old money adviser David Salako will be making a shock entrance to the villa.

Ahead of their arrival, Zara has said she plans to bring “sass, vibes and good energy” to the villa and admitted it may take her a while to find the right man as she has “high standards”. Meanwhile, David has also described himself as “very picky” when it comes to girls and revealed he is “excited to meet new people, aside from a partner, friends as well”.

But during the show, Love Island fans couldn't help but comment on the fact that the contestants appeared to be battling strong winds in the villa - and we don't meant of the dramatic kind - as it has been reported that the area is currently battling 50mph winds.

@tjkeaveny1 tweeted: "Am I the only one worried about how cold it could be in the love island villa, just let them wear a coat or something. #LoveIsland." @sanjisbaby asked: "What the hell is up with this wind #loveisland." @HS1_ANGEL quipped: "The wind is gonna throw them back in the uk at this rate #LoveIsland."

@PopCulture100 posted: "May aswel(sic) had the villa in Ireland with all this wind #LoveIsland." @PAMFROMADM1N commented: "I’d be sooooooo stressed about that wind if I worked on the love island production team." @weezy2014x joked: "Anyone want to pull that wind for a chat and tell it to shoosh #LoveIsland." @sharonhill61 added: "That wind is really off putting I can’t concentrate #LoveIsland."
