Love Island fans appeared thrilled as Will Young gave an update on his and Jessie Wynter's romance after they were dumped from the villa just before the final. The farmer and Australian personal trainer just missed out on making it into the final four couples of the second-ever winter edition of the ITV2 dating show following a 'compatibility' vote.
Then on Monday (March 13), as host Maya Jama returned to the South African villa to reveal who had received the most public votes and who would be crowned winners of the 2023 winter series. Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan were clear favourites to take the title as the ninth series of Love Island came to an end, bagging 44 per cent of the final vote.
The Manchester PE and Science teacher and the social worker, from Bedford, beat fellow couples Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall, who landed up in second place, and Samie Elishi and Tom Clare, who finished in third position, during the final episode which saw host Maya Jama return to the South African villa. Tanya Mahenga and Shaq Muhammad placed fourth following a public vote.
But fans are still interested in what the other islanders are up to following their exits from the villa and it appears Will has whisked Jessie off to his family farm where they were just in time for lambing season. Sharing a snap on Instagram, the new couple could be seen sharing a kiss as they clung onto two of the farm's newest four-legged members.
Another image showed the pair seeing the sights in London, posing outside Buckingham Palace while a third was a screengrab from the moment Will and Jessie enjoyed their first date on Love Island just a matter of weeks ago.
"To the Villa, to London, to the FARM. What a crazy, wonderful and life lasting journey this has been," Will and Jessie started the caption of their joint post, their first since leaving Love Island as a social media was put on the contestants' family and friends for the first time.
"We made friends for life, met each other and more importantly have fallen in love. We are so happy that we got this opportunity as without it we may have never met. We just want to thank all of you for the love and support we have gotten, we really couldn’t have done it without you. Love you all Will & Jessie."
Fellow former islander Claudia Fogerty was among the first to reply, writing: "They're back." Her fellow bombshell contestant Rosie Seabrook commented: "Omg I love this." Casey O'Gorman posted: "Lambing season pending." Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Dianne Buswell also added: "So happy for you babe !!! You're a uk chick now!!!!! We must catch up!!!!"
Meanwhile, Love Island fans were left making the same comment as they branded Will and Jessie the 'real winners'. @alexandrasoaress_ said: "Shouldve been in the final." @robynewing_88 replied: "The best couple. I refused to watch the final after you guys left."
