Love Island fans think they have found the winners of the winter series after they were left with complaints over the return of the much-anticipated Movie Night. The controversial segment sees the islanders shown video clips of antics which occurred during Casa Amor.
It means the boys and the girls get to see what they may or may not have heard about from when the couples had been tempted by newcomers during their time apart. Last year's Movie Night, during the summer edition of the ITV2 dating show, saw watchdog Ofcom flooded with complaints and has since said it was the most complained-about TV event of 2022.
However, it appears it's the moment Love Island viewers have been waiting for - and have even branded the producers 'messy' for bringing it back. But its return to the screen did cause some complaints for viewers.

After Movie Night was teased at the end of Tuesday night's episode, viewers expected to get a full helping of drama during Wednesday (February 22) night's trip to the South African villa. However, despite all the build-up, Movie Night only lasted 10 minutes before being cut off, with the rest to air on Thursday night (February 23) instead with its return being teased as Movie Night: The Sequal.
But fans flocked to social media to complain. @asalllas tweeted: "Sat through the longest boring Olivia date for 2 FLIPPIN MOVIE CLIPS! #FUMING #loveisland #movienight." @reieesc fumed: "SO YOUR TELLING ME I SPENT MY DAY TELLING THE MIDDLE AGE WOMEN AT WORK HOW EXCITED I WAS FOR MOVIE NIGHT, JUST TO GET TWO CLIPS #loveisland."
@heavyonitbarbi complained: "We're really about to get only 10 minutes of movie night im actually done with the producers #LoveIsland." @cocosarel moaned: "I hate this show. I got 45 excruciating minutes of Olivia content, and only 10 minutes of movie night. #loveisland."
@pjwood26 posted: "I don’t know who began this reality tv show trend/lie. Where the ‘tonight’ pretitle preview is pure tosh. It’s not movie night is it? That’s tomorrow really. Justify the big ‘movie night’ tease by showing 6 mins of it at the end. I get it…and hate it #loveisland." @xxmhcx added: "@LoveIsland Please why did you lie to us, we all were told it was movie night not movie 5 minutes and wait for tomorrow night #loveisland."
The start of Movie Night saw tensions to resurface between Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad. The pair have previously declared their love for one another and had been coupled up since the beginning of the series until 23-year-old biomedical science student Tanya brought back bombshell Martin Akinola from Casa Amor.
A row quickly erupted between Tanya and 24-year-old airport security officer Shaq after the boys were given the chance to select a movie and opted for Catch Me If You Tan, which showed details of Tanya and 27-year-old Martin’s Casa Amor relationship, including an intimate kiss.
"So it was just a peck, yeah, and he went to kiss you? So we’re lying now?" asked Shaq from across the garden. To which Tanya, who was sat on a table with the female islanders, replied: "If you’re looking for something to be angry about, this isn’t it." Tensions grew as Shaq continued: "I knew you were looking nervous for a reason. How are you actually getting defensive." Tanya replied: "Am I not allowed to defend myself?"
Despite there being more to come, Love Island fans are convinced that one couple will be left unfazed by the whole thing - and end up winning the show. @amenaofficial tweeted: "The less Kai is bothered about Olivia the more I’m rooting for him and Sanam to win.. #loveisland." @LamontJunior said: "When I vote for Kai & Sanam to win, I don’t want to hear no back talk. The rest are all driving me mad. #LoveIsland."
@jasebyjason commented: "I’m so serious when I say I want Kai 2.0 and Sanam to win. He’s the only one that’s demonstrated even a crumb of sense since Casa #LoveIsland."@Carina_VarelaS posted: "I don't care for these people. Kai and Sanam are my winners, period!!! Kai deserve the 50k just from handling Olivia. #loveisland." @SanaRavishinga added: "I’m not even joking when I say I’m DEADA*S SERIOUS I want Kai and Sanam to WIN like I NEED THEM TO WIN they are the ONLY cute couple in there #loveisland."
