Love Island beauty Rosie Williams says she didn't recognise herself anymore before opting for a hair transplant. Rosie, 30, a former Manchester-based solicitor, made the decision to have the procedure following years of deteriorating hair health caused by high levels of personal stress.
Rosie experienced hair thinning and even complete bald patches, which were significantly affecting the TV star’s mental health. She opted for celebrity hair transplant surgeon Dr Matee Rajput, to carry out the procedure at his Manchester clinic, having previously performed hair transplants for a number of former Love Island stars including winners Jack Fincham and Max Morley, Keiran Nicholls, Dom Lever and Alex Beattie.
Rosie, who starred in the 2018 series of the hit ITV2 dating show, underwent the procedure 22 months ago, but only now after seeing the results has she felt confident enough to share the news publicly. Speaking at the time of her procedure she said: "Unfortunately, over the last couple of years my overall hair health has continued to deteriorate. I can only put it down to the amount of stress I’ve been under for personal reasons.

"My hair has continued to thin and I’m experiencing bald patches, the overall hairline has completely changed shape and I don’t even recognise myself anymore. What upsets me the most is that every time I wash my hair, I end up sitting on the floor in tears with chunks of wet hair in my hands that have come out of my scalp and I have no idea why."
She added: !"Hair loss isn’t something I would wish on anybody, It’s completely impacted my overall happiness and confidence - and following Love Island I was blessed enough to have a lovely following on Instagram that I no longer wish to share myself with because I’m so embarrassed of my hair."
Rosie carried out extensive research into hair loss, how to get hair to grow again and hair transplants in general and spoke to friends and family before her consultation. She said about the decision: "Women and hair loss and women having hair transplants doesn’t really get spoken about and I didn’t know this was an option for me, but it is. And as much as none of us want to go through surgery to fix a problem like hair loss, it’s always nice to know that those options are available now."
Speaking after the procedure Rosie, who founded fashion brand White Collar in 2019, says the change is 'amazing. "My hair is like it’s a different person's head. I’ve never experienced growth like I have done in the past 22 months," she said.
"I do think that the PRP treatments as well as the operation, has been so beneficial - not only to the transplanted area but also to my natural scalp area as well. My fringe used to be really short and stick out constantly and now it’s passing my chin which is just amazing. It’s just been a game changer really, that’s the only way I can describe it."
She added: "I think with hair transplants, it’s so widely known of being a man's world - that’s all you hear about males losing their hair because of age and how they naturally recede. It’s never really spoken about that women also experience thinning, they also can lose hair because of stress, hormones, pregnancy.
"I just feel like for women, you become more ashamed because you feel that it’s not really spoken about and if you are losing your hair, you are abnormal because not a lot of women talk about losing their hair. It’s so important that women feel more confident in talking about the struggles with their hair as well and what you can do to fix that."
Dr Matee added: "Rosie was really concerned about her hair loss and bald patches and it was beginning to affect her confidence and mental health. Social media is a big part of her career which means her image is very important to her and with so many eyes on everything you do, she wanted to stop feeling so insecure about it.
"The surgery went extremely well and she was a brilliant patient and followed all of the post operative instructions. Two years later and she finally has the confidence to go public with the news - but looking at the before and after results are a clear indication as to why.
"Unlike other cosmetic surgeries, hair loss treatment for women is still quite a taboo subject that not many women talk about. Even with male hair loss, until people like Wayne Rooney came out, there was a big taboo in that.
“We need strong female personalities like Rosie to come forward so that we can change the narrative and stop women feeling ashamed and embarrassed about hair loss. Hair loss affects women just as much as men, for many different reasons, including: pregnancy, stress, alopecia, cancer and other illnesses, poor hair care and use of hair extensions."
