ITV Loose Women under fire for 'rubbing people's noses in it'

A number of Loose Women viewers have hit out after a "tone deaf" segment aired on the show.

Tuesday's edition of the lunchtime programme saw panelists Jane Moore, Gloria Hunniford, Denise Welch and Brenda Edwards discuss all things topical. As the show got underway, Jane told her fellow co-hosts about a recent trip to Costa Rica she took with her daughters.

The 60-year-old said she had had to reschedule the holiday "four or five times" due to covid. She also said she and her family stayed in a number of places as they "like an adventure".

Gushing about Costa Rica, she then said: "Do you know what? It was an incredible... I would recommend it as a country to visit to anybody."

But her comments did not go down well with some fans of the show, who suggested it was "tone deaf" to make such a recommendation amid the cost of living crisis. Taking to Twitter, Gary Grey said: "ITV are really out of touch with people and just rubbing everyone's nose in it this morning!!"

Sara said: "Jane Moore would recommend we visit Costa Rica. Most people won’t be able to afford Costa Coffee this winter." Rachel said: "Tone deaf. Honestly #LooseWomen can you not read the room?"

Loose Women have been approached for comment.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
