Kerry Katona was supported by the Loose Women panellists as she appeared on the latest edition of the show. The former Atomic Kitten singer appeared on the ITV lunchtime programme to chat about her new memoir, and third book, Kerry Katona: Whole Again - Love, Life and Me: My Story.
She looked gorgeous as she bounced her way onto the panel in front of the live audience to sit alongside Jane Moore, Janet Street-Porter, Coleen Nolan and Linda Robson. Kerry, 42, could be seen donning a vibrant silky pink and green silk while her pink locks had been styled into classic curls.
But it didn't take long for things to turn emotional for the star as she was quizzed about her volatile relationship with George Kay, who died in 2019. It comes after Kerry appeared on Loose Women a few years ago and broke down on the panel following her split from George, who is the father of her youngest daughter, Dylan-Jorge, now eight.
When asked on why she kept details of their relationship secret, Kerry said: "The fear, the fear from George was so severe. Lily and Molly [her daughters with ex Brian McFadden] would come home from school and I'd say 'just go upstairs,' I'll never forgive myself for that." As she became emotional, Linda asked Kerry if she tried to 'shield the kids' from what was going on, to which she replied: "They never saw anything but they heard it a lot of it."
Seeing she was getting upset, Jane stepped in and said "Kerry, it wasn't your fault," before Kerry continued: "It's not about, blame, it's a fear..." When asked by Coleen, who also offered her words of support, what she would tell someone who is "sitting at home in the same situation," Kerry began to cry.
Quickly given tissues from the Loose Women star, Kerry opened up further about how her mum feared for her daughter's life. "My mum says she was waiting for the police to knock on the door," she told the panel and live studio audience. "I remember one time George was covering up my bruises and my mum was looking and going 'what are those bruises from?' And I was like 'Oh, it's from having rough sex mum.'
"And he looked at my mum and my mum said that he knew that she knew kinda thing. Molly gave me a look of pure weakness and I thought what am I teaching my kids?" Kerry insisted she 'wasn't having a breakdown and the panel soon moved on to chat to the singer and TV star about her new relationship with fiancé Ryan Mahoney."
Kerry, who also shared children Heidi and Maxwell with ex-husband Mark Croft, revealed she is freezing her eggs so her partner has the option to be father to his own children, if he wants to in the future. "The thing is my other half is eight years younger than me," she said on the show before joking: "I can still pull them, love!"
"He has no children of his own and me and the kids are enough for him, more than enough for him, and he’s happy with that," she continued. "But I also don’t want to rob him of that option. Things might change in the future, I’m 42, I know I’ve not got much time left, there might not be that many eggs left anyway. Boiled, scrambled, fried, you pick I don’t know.
"So I think getting them frozen, and having that option there – I’d never carry a child again because I nearly died with DJ, DJ did die, she’s alive now – I think that’s my body saying enough is enough, but having the option there, to have a surrogate, you know, it’s there."
