Loose Women has been hit with official complaints over comments made in a recent show by Katie Piper. The TV star triggered a backlash after she shared her reaction to a viral video of a 'gothic baby' which was being discussed on the ITV lunchtime show.
During the segment on the popular panel show, on December 22, Katie, Kaye Adams, Judi Love and Nadia Swahala discussed if parents should impose their lifestyle choices on their children. The debate was sparked after one mother turned her entire home into the real-life Addams Family following the release of Netflix's new show Wednesday.
The TikTok video showed the 'day in a life of a gothic baby' and even featured a teddy named 'Hell-Mo', a spin on Sesame Street’s much-loved character, Elmo.

After watching the clip, Katie could be heard gasping before saying: "I don't like that interior." She continued: "It's all black and dark. Babies don't like that. I'm just going to put it out there it's giving me satanic vibes, it's giving me bad energy, it's toxic, I don't like it and also it's a baby."
She added: "The cots are tomb. You can't put your baby in a grave." At the time, Loose Women viewers flocked to social media to hit out at Katie's response, suggesting she was 'discriminating against the Goth community' with some even branding the segment 'disgusting'
It has now resulted in 66 complaints being made to Ofcom. The complaints were revealed in the broadcasting watchdog's first audience complaints release of the year.
At the end of last year, Ofcom took a look back at the most complained-about moments of 2022 with an episode of last summer's Love Island coming out on top followed by I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here and Friday Night Live making up the top three.
In regulator Ofcom's annual report, the episode of ITV2's Love Island on July 17 received 2,630 complaints relating to "alleged misogynistic and bullying behaviour by some contestants in the villa" with Ofcom concluding no formal investigation was needed because of how the behaviour was put into context.
The specific episode in question saw the explosive fallout from Mad Movies, with Luca Bish left fuming at then-partner Gemma Owen while accusing her of ‘flirting’ with Casa Amour boy Billy Brown - despite her insisting she wasn’t ‘entertaining’ the new bombshell's advances.
Elsewhere on the list, This Morning racked up complaints over the programme’s popular game Spin to Win which was widely criticised for giving away cash for energy bills as a prize. Richard Madeley also sparked Ofcom complaints on February 15 on Good Morning Britain, when he spoke about death threats made to Keir Starmer.
Jeremy Vine's show also made the list as did Gary Neville's comments during the recent FIFA World Cup Final between Argentina and France when the former Manchester United footballer and pundit compared the treatment of nurses in the UK to that of migrant workers after Qatar, where the tournament was being held.
