Nadia Sawalha texted her husband live on air on ITV's Loose Women on Friday, November 25 asking him to get a vasectomy as they discussed whether women should be able to ask their male partners to do just that.
The debate was sparked after Myleene Klass revealed her fiance, Simon Motson, had undergone a vasectomy after the classically-trained musician gave birth to their son after suffering a series of miscarriages. She stated: "He said my body had been through enough so it was HIS turn to do his bit."
The Loose Women panel featured Nadia, Kaye Adams, Frankie Bridge and Linda Robson and opinion was split on whether it is right to ask your partner to get a vasectomy.

Frankie said: "I actually don't think I would. Obviously, we have spoken about it a bit. But we've got quite an age gap. And I had my kids quite young. So although we don't want any more, I don't really want the option taken away from me. And I just don't feel like it's fair to ask him to take that option away from him, because you don't ever know what's going to happen."
Nadia said of her husband Mark Adderley: "I would. If I still had eggs, I would demand that he had a vasectomy. My contraceptive life has been a nightmare. Diaphragms popping across the room. Contraceptive sponges that are lost. Coils, long pieces of copper, put up into my cervix without an anaesthetic. Two children on the floor, I delivered them on the kitchen floor... and I'm just asking you to do [she takes out a pair of large scissors and makes a snipping action] ... with tiny little scissors and you're gonna say no."
She added how she had actually messaged him whilst on the show, thinking his response would swing her way. She said: "I think he would understand that because he's seen me go through all the anguish that I've gone through with them."
Soon after saying this, Nadia looked shocked and exclaimed: "Oh! Oh my god!" Before reading out his message: "'No. Because I would never ask you to have a hysterectomy. How am I suddenly in trouble? I would never ask you to get steriled.'"
Clearly riled up and emotional, Nadia said that this conversation had started a row, because "I am really shocked and upset that he wouldn't have a vasectomy." It came a day after 58-year-old Nadia shared her "life-changing" diagnosis with her Loose Women co-stars and viewers. Read more on that here.
While Kaye, Frankie and Linda were all on the side of not asking male partners to have a vasectomy, Kaye said: "I think it's such an intimate thing. I would rather take responsibility. And I always did take responsibility for my contraception."
Nadia praised the decision of Linda's sister's husband, who she explained did opt to have a vasectomy after four children. Linda said: "He just decided it was his turn to try and help." To this revelation, Nadia repeated a number of times: "What a good man."
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1 and ITVHub.
