Loose Women's regular coverage was pulled to announce the next Prime Minister at Downing Street. ITV viewers had their regular dose of morning entertainment cut short after the studio was forced to immediately change its lineup.
This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield gave a brief warning a breaking news announcement would be made but offered no sign of when regular programming would return. The topical chat show Loose Women was due to start at 12:30 pm but viewers watched as cameras cut to a studio with Conservative parties banners.
The breaking news segment was put in place in order to give the public live coverage of the next Prime Minister being announced. During the wait, Holly and Phil remained on the screen to discuss the news with their political correspondent.
