An awkward moment on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! left some viewers cringing and others in hysterics. Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner made the blunder while talking to former England rugby star Mike Tindall about his wife Zara during a chat on last night's (November 7) episode.
Celebrity Gogglebox star and comedian Babatunde Aléshé asked Mike, 44, where he met Zara - daughter of Anne, the Princess Royal and niece to King Charles - as they got to know each other in the camp, reports The Mirror. When Mike responded: "In Sydney, in 2003", Owen chimed in by asking: Is she Australian?"
Mike simply responded: "No" while shaking his head, before adding, after a brief pause: "I was in the World Cup, and she was out watching." Owen - the youngest campmate this year at 23 - seemingly not knowing about royal Zara bemused and amused ITV viewers.
@ReissOmari tweeted: "Did Owen just ask if Zara Phillips is Australian?? I can't deal with this man" with two crying laughing emojis. @Miss_Ondre wrote: "I couldn’t believe what I was hearing".
@MissMarrple asked: "Did Owen just ask Mike Tindall if Zara was Australian? Oh my god." @jusfcoordinates posted: "I can't believe Owen asked [that]. Babe she's literally in the Royal Family".
@scottslionesses said the incident "made my night" and @pjw373 added: "Kudos to Mike for maintaining a poker face….while all us viewers are rolling on the floor hysterical in front of our tellys."
@georgescornish responded: "This absolutely made me die with laughter" and @GeorgiaEH17 declared: "Owen is the gift that keeps on giving". Others wrote "that's brilliant" and "oh bless him" in their responses to Owen's question.
Mike, who is the first member of the extended royal family to appear on I'm A Celeb, married Zara Phillips - as she was then known - in 2011. Zara is currently the 20th in line to the British throne.
As for how they met, Mike went on to explain to Babatunde: "I got dropped from the semi-final and I was p****d off so I went for a beer with [two others]. They'd met her before and they introduced us and got chatting from there."
