I'm A Celebrity 2022 is only in its first few days and yet already there has been a surprise exist and now a trial twist. Presenters Ant and Dec brought the first episode of I'm A Celebrity's new series to an abrupt end on Sunday as their usual walk into camp was scrapped after news of an early trial twist.
Up and down the country millions tuned in to the cult ITV show, which was back in Australia for the first time since 2019. The pandemic had forced the Geordie duo and celebs to camp out in a Welsh castle for the last two years. As the show began, Ant and Dec established their old stomping ground as the latest line-up including Boy George, Mike Tindall, Sue Cleaver and Owen Warner were seen in action for the first time.
Celebs met each other for the first time, and revealed their knowledge of fellow campmates. While Boy George seemed to have the lowdown on everyone, there was an awkward moment between Owen and Scarlette Douglas, as he had no clue who she was. The bumper launch episode, which ran for 105 minutes, then dropped the big twist. The first show of the new series would see four of the celebs, two of whom had been voted by the public to be Jungle VIPs, sent to a deserted island, while their fellow campmates were getting prepared to bed down for the first night in camp.

Then came the big news. The VIPs - Boy George, Olivia Attwood, Scarlette and Chris Moyles - would be doing the first trial, before finally heading into camp. While Olivia seemed excited at the prospect, Chris definitely had a sense of impending doom.
Usually, Ant and Dec end each episode of I'm A Celebrity by going into camp, but given that there was no public vote on who should do the trial, that tradition was shelved for a night, reported Chronicle Live.
Just as Ant was saying how much he'd missed camp, Dec told viewers at home: "So, we already know the VIPs are doing tomorrow's trial, which means Ant and I don't need to go down into camp tonight," as Ant threw his arms up in the air in disappointment and shouted: "So that's it from us. We'll be back tomorrow from 9 o'clock with the first trial of the series. See you then," as I'm A Celeb's famous theme tune started playing.
The show has continued and so have the surprises. Ant and Dec confirmed on the show what reports on Monday, November 7, had been indicating. Olivia Attwood has been forced to withdraw from the show on medical grounds. A spokesperson for ITV said the move was "a precautionary measure" as "Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo medical checks".
