ITV Good Morning Britain viewers say Scouser 'should be next PM' after 'heroic' act

Good Morning Britain viewers heaped praise on a Scouser over his "heroic" work.

James Anderson appeared on today's edition of Good Morning Britain to discuss his charity. Depher (Disabled and Elderly Plumbing and Heating Emergency Response) helped the elderly, disabled and vulnerable with free plumbing services - and James' work is becoming increasing valuable as the UK faces a cost of living crisis.

He said: "A lot of people think they're a burden on society and their family so they don't reach out and ask for help. then they get into a situation where they can suffer or, even worse, die. We are there to remove the stigma and help people deal with it. Whatever you need, we will deal with that for you."

James was born in Liverpool and worked as a plumber for 29 years before he set up the charity in 2019. Depher has since helped over 50,000 people and the charity has widened its services to help fill empty fridges and cupboards, pay bills and bailiffs and even buy nappies.

James appeared on the show as shock forecasts predicted energy bills will rise higher than expected in winter. Bills are now expected to reach approximately £3,582 per year for the average household from October - up from the £3,359 predicted earlier this month.

From January, that amount is expected to rise to £4,266 before rising again in April to £4,427 - the previous forecast was for £3,729 in April. James urged the government to open their eyes and act now to address the problem.

He said: "People will die. It's too late next week or the week after." Thursday's Good Morning Britain was hosted by Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins - and the broadcasters praised the plumber's heroic work.

James insisted he was not a hero and said he would be able to "educate" politicians if they would let him. Viewers following the show on Twitter praised his work.

Carla said: "Can he be our PM ?? We need more people like him ..."

Susan added: "This guy is incredible"

Lucy commented: "What an absolute legend!"

Tina tweeted: "WONDERFUL, kind, caring superhero James. Amazing person who cares. Wouldn't the country be in a better place if more people was like James."
