ITV Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley shares annoyance as he's 'jealous' of Lorraine Kelly

Richard Madeley couldn't hide his disappointment during the latest episode of Good Morning Britain as he admitted to being 'jealous' of Lorraine Kelly. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Tuesday (May 17) alongside Susanna Reid.

As usual the pair crossed over to Lorraine late in their broadcast to find out what she had coming up on her self-titled show. And it clearly triggered a case of the green-eyed monster.

"Who's your special guest this morning, Lorraine?" Susanna, 51, asked to which the Scottish host, 62, replied: "Our special guest this morning is Sam from Eurovision," aka Sam Ryder who wowed the country over the weekend and filled the nation with pride as he finish in second place behind Ukraine's entry.

Both Susanna and Richard, 66, let out a sigh as Susanna admitted she was 'jealous'. "Look at him there," Lorraine added as a clip of the singer performing at the annual contest was played out before she revealed that the Eurovision 2022 runner-up had said he takes fashion inspiration from her.

"I'm not quite sure what to say to that," Lorraine admitted as Richard laughed over in the neighbouring studio. "The performance was unbelievable but the outfit divided people a little bit."

Sticking up for her co-star, Susanna said: "Oh come on, Lorraine! You could pull that outfit off." Lorraine asked: "Do you think?" as Susanna and Richard both demanded she put it on.

"I'm very excited to have him on as he cheered me up over the weekend," Lorraine added as Richard was heard saying: "We are very jealous." Then, after teasing what else was to come on her show and handing back to Richard and Susanna to finish up the latest episode of GMB, Richard said: "We're very jealous of your main guest because we wanted him!"

As Lorraine pulled a faux sympathetic face, Susanna declared: "We can all have him," as Lorraine added: "There's enough of him to go round."

The UK was united in their astonishment as Sam came second behind Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra on Saturday night, giving the UK its best Eurovision Song Contest result in more than 20 years and ending its dismal two-year run of zero points.

Sam has been doing countless interviews since he jetted back from Turin to the UK (PA)

The singer, from Essex, uploaded cover songs to TikTok during lockdown and quickly became a viral sensation, catching the attention of global stars including Justin Bieber, Sia, and Alicia Keys. He has since signed to the Parlophone record label, part of Warner Music Group, and released his debut EP The Sun’s Gonna Rise in 2021.

But in a special update issued by the Official Charts Company on Monday (May 16), it was indicated that Sam's Eurovision track Space Man is sitting at number three behind Cat Burns and last week’s chart-topper Harry Styles. Only 340 chart sales separate Sam from the top spot.

If he does bag the top spot, Sam would be breaking records again as Space Man would be the first Eurovision single to hit number one in the UK since Gina G’s Ooh Ahh (Just A Little Bit) in 1996.
