ITV Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins tells Adil Ray to 'stop' as he mocks 'miserable' Rishi Sunak move

Charlotte Hawkins didn't waiver in her defence of the new Prime Minister as her Good Morning Britain co-host Adil Ray mocked Rishi Sunak live on the show. The pair were at the helm of the ITV news programme on Thursday (October 27) as they continued to chat about the former chancellor's new appointment as the Tory leader.

The show had sent Richard Gaisford back to Downing Street where he delivered multiple reports on the big challenges currently facing the new PM, just days after taking up office following Liz Truss' resignation.

Richard spoke about the 'growing discontent' surrounding Suella Braverman after she resigned from her position as Home Secretary under Ms Truss over data breaches, before being given back her role when Mr Sunak formed his new government on Tuesday (October 25) following his meeting with the King.

The reporter also commented on the looming winter strikes and ongoing cost of living crisis facing the new PM following his premiership. Returning to the studio, Charlotte said: "Did you know he's going to be the first Prime Minister to live above No.10 Downing Street in 25 years..."

As she spoke, Adil put on a stern face and began to robotically wave. But Charlotte continued: "Because they all lived above No.11." Having enough of her co-host's actions, the mum-of-one snapped: "Stop! Honestly, he's taking it seriously." Adil was mocking the new PM's final moments outside No.10 following his first speech as the country's new leader on Tuesday.

"Why didn't he smile?" Adil asked as Charlotte replied: "He's come in and he's saying, 'I mean business. He's not coming in saying, 'Hi, I'm the new Prime Minister," she added waving and smiling enthusiastically.

"But it's like when someone comes over and you wave them goodbye from your doorstep going, 'why did they stay so long? I wish they'd left ages ago.' He's so miserable," Adil claimed before Charlotte responded: "He's got a job to be done. He's like, 'I can't waste time here smiling and waving.'"

Adil did eventually stop waving and the pair ended with a laugh as Charlotte joked that he was probably thinking about 'not having to change the wallpaper at No.11' in a subtle dig after it was revealed that Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds had re-decorated their family flat at 11 Downing Street with 'gold' £840 wallpaper.
