ITV Good Morning Britain replaces Richard Madeley and viewers are raving about it

Viewers of ITV's Good Morning Britain were left pleasantly surprised on Monday morning as the presenters shake-up meant that host Richard Madeley was not in the hot seat next to Susanna Reid.

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis instead joined Susanna Reid from 6am as host, as Susanna posted on her Twitter on Sunday night about the news.

As reported by BirminghamLive, She wrote: "Tomorrow, I am very pleased to say that @MartinSLewis will be hosting @GMB with me."

Viewers were left more than happy with this news, as calls for Richard Madeley's resigning grows ever stronger among fans of the show.

One Twitter user wrote: "Martin is brilliant at this. He completely eclipses Cringard Madeley and Rinder, he also outclasses the over intense Suzanna Reid! Worth tuning in today."

Another said: "Thank you GMB! Great start to the week. Was getting ready to switch over again if Madelry’s Partridge-voice followed the opening music."

And a third wrote: "Good to have Martin back. We need his wise words particularly to find a peaceful way out of the terrible predicament the world is in."

GMB viewers are still fuming about Richard's words when interviewing former television journalist Olena Gne last week.

Richard has been hosting the programme from Monday to Wednesday since before Christmas. (ITV)

Speaking about an explosion that occurred at an apartment block close to where Olena is located, Richard said: "We know that two innocent people were killed, at least three injured. Those figures may go up as reports come in."

Fans quickly took to social media to complain about Madeley's "insensitive" comments, with one Twitter user saying: "Awful. Tells the whole family in front of the children that a mother and child have just died in an apartment near them… Next sentence: what are you doing to reassure the children?!"

Another agreed, saying: "Why would Richard Madeley feel the need to mention that two people have been killed in an explosion close to the apartment where they’re interviewing a mother and her children in a basement. Producers, please have a word, incredibly insensitive."

ITV's Good Morning Britain will resume each weekday from 6am onwards on the channel.
