Good Morning Britain presenters mocked no-show Tory ministers on what is a crucial day for the Government as the nation awaits the fate of the Prime Minister after 'partygate'.
Viewers were left reeling after being presented with an empty chair as GMB hosts, Adil Ray and Susanna Reid, explained how no government minister had booked to appear on the programme to address the birthday party controversy.
The hosts taunted ministers on Wednesday's show (January 26) holding up cake in the studio after it was revealed Foreign Secretary Liz Truss had delivered media interviews with other broadcasters.

GMB presenter Susanna slammed the accusations during Tuesday’s show (Janury 25), which claimed Mrs Johnson was presented with a cake and picnic food from M&S.
Downing Street admitted that staff ‘gathered briefly’ in the Cabinet Room following a meeting, while Tory Minister Conor Burns left to the Prime Minister's defence saying that he was ‘ambushed with cake’.
Host Susanna said: “We would like to talk to a government minister about it this morning, but unfortunately we can’t. We’ll keep you updated on that situation. The chair is empty.”
Adil joked: “If any government ministers are around, we do have some cake over here if you’d like to come in. We can ambush you with a slice of cake.
"Some cheese and wine are around as well, so lots of reasons for you to perhaps pop in if you would like to.”
Earlier in the programme, Susanna quipped: “We will find out which fridge they're in and get back to you.”
Boris Johnson could become the first prime minister ever to be interviewed under caution as he now faces police questioning after Scotland Yard launched an investigation after mounting pressure from the public.
Metropolitan Police Chief Dame Cressida Dick affirmed officers will investigate “a number of events” where Covid lockdown rules were allegedly breached in Downing Street and Whitehall.
GMB host Adil branded the former called party-gate “the worst possible situation”, saying: “You couldn’t make this up.”
He added: “You have one job in the middle of a pandemic as a leader. You don’t know much about the science – follow the science, explain the rules, and follow the rules.
“His own personal advisor broke the rules, he has to get rid of him. His health secretary broke the rules, he had to get rid of him. And now he himself at the centre of a criminal police investigation – you couldn’t make this up! It’s the worst possible situation.”
The nation eagerly awaited the findings of Sue Gray's report, an investigation that will look into the alleged succession of lockdown parties held when coronavirus restrictions banned indoor socialising. The Prime Minister will also face the music later today at PMQs scheduled for 12pm.
