ITV Good Morning Britain viewers were horrified after a debate on the show today, Thursday, April 27. Adil Ray and Kate Garraway were presenting the programme and leading into a forthcoming segment in which they would debate whether pet owners should be vegan. However, the conversation turned personal when Adil made a claim.
Adil said that people smell like their pets: "You can smell them if they have pets", he said. The remark left Kate in disbelief. However, he continued: "You can smell if they have dogs or cats. You always can."
Viewers were not impressed by the statement, which was compounded as the conversation on the topic continued. Charlotte Hakwins told the hosts she thought Sir Keir Starmer once had a pet hamster. Adil then encouraged Kate: "There you go, when he comes in have a sniff and we can try and guess the animal".

Kate was baffled by the comments, according to the Express. She told viewers: "We've gone in a whole new direction of insult haven't we? It's sort of weird, I don't think pet owners want to know if they smell." However Adil insisted: "It's not an insult. They do, they do."
"Get in touch on Twitter or email and we'll find out if Sir Keir Starmer would eat his pet hamster, let's get the news, weather and travel where you are," Kate continued.
Not letting the topic drop, Adil then leaned in to sniff his co-host and guessed: "Fish?" as Charlotte gasped in horror. As Adil laughed at Kate, she was seen moving away from him as the show quickly went to an advert break and viewers rushed to Twitter to complain.
One social media user complained: "What a disgusting thing Adil Ray said to Kate this morning. Suggesting she smelled of fish was misogyny and bullying at its most obvious to millions of people. She clearly told him to stop saying people smelled but he kept on going. Horrible behaviour. #GMB."
Another added: "@GMB really offended that Adil said @kategarraway smelled of FISH! A disgusting misogynist comment that he should apologise for! #GMB." A third added their thoughts. "It's a wonder Kate Garraway didn't punch Adil Ray on the nose for saying he thought she smelled of fish !!!!!???#GMB @GMB", the said. The comments continued: "Did I really just see that !!!!???? Did ADIL RAY go close to Kate Garraway {wrinkle his nose & frown} and say "Fish?" "Haddock?" #GMB @GMB."
