Kate Garraway told Good Morning Britain viewers she faced 'another crisis' and had to make a trip to hospital.
The ITV presenter revealed on Friday's show that she had to miss a festive event that she was so looking forward - a Christmas Carol event hosted by the Princess of Wales.
Kate said she had to pull out of attending with her father, who she said was really looking forward to it but "unfortunately ended up in the hospital with another crisis".
Kate did not go into detail about who was in hospital but said she was gutted to miss the special event as she really enjoyed it last year.
2022 has been extremely tough for the 55-year-old as she continues to care for her husband Derek Draper, who is still battling the aftermath of contracting covid in March 2020.
Derek was in hospital for over a year and now receives 24-hour care.
The 56-year-old has been unable to fully communicate, has issues with mobility and has struggled with major health problems. Earlier this month he was released from hospital after contracting sepsis so will be spending Christmas at home with his family.
As we reported this week, Kate shared some festive snaps as the family get into the Christmas spirit. She posted some lovely photos of her children Darcey, 16 and Billy, 13, standing next to a gorgeous Christmas tree.
In another one she shared, Kate can be seen hauling the tree out of her car, with the help from her parents. Kate captioned the snaps: "So they say it takes a village to raise a child, but how many does it take to raise a Christmas tree?
"Well in my case (altogether now sing along), 5 exasperated shop workers, 4 helpful neighbours, 3 frazzled parents, 2 excited kids & NOT a partridge in a pear tree but my Peugeot. Even my own mother didn’t believe I could get a 6-foot tree in but I knew my Percy Peugeot wouldn’t let me down!"
Back in October, Kate opened up about the journey of looking after Derek and admitted that she has been sometimes "frustrated, emotional and depressed" caring for Derek, but desperately "wants him to survive".
Kate shared an intimate insight into her life and marriage in her ITV documentary 'Finding Derek' which showed how much her family's life had changed over the last two years.
Speaking to the camera she said: "In the documentary, you saw me frustrated, depressed, emotional.
"And I've been all of those and more in recent weeks and months and more. Because that's the thing with caring, you want it to carry on because you want the person to be surviving and still with you, so that you CAN care for them, but there isn't an endpoint and it doesn't get any easier."
