Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins has been flooded with comforting messages from her co-stars and fans as she shared her heartbreaking loss.
The ITV soap star, who has played Victoria Sugden on the Leeds-based show since 2006 when she was just 12 years old, took to Instagram on Monday (July 11) to announce her pet dog, Pierre, had sadly died. She shared the news alongside a poignant black and white picture of the pair together.
"11 years and 11 months of unconditional love," she started her lengthy tribute to her beloved pet. He was my everything and my heart is broken but I’m so grateful he was mine."
The 28-year-old went on to add: "Everyone that played a part in his life, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. He was so loved and I know so many people contributed to giving him the best life."
She also shared a post to her Instagram Story, sharing a picture of her hand with her late pup's paw on top. "Sweet dreams P. I loved being your mummy." Isabel also shared her 'favourite' videos of her pet.
Isabel's Emmerdale co-stars were among the first to flood the comments with messages of support after sharing her upsetting news. Lisa Riley, who plays Emmerdale's Mandy Dingle, wrote: "Wow my heart breaks for you. love and hugs xx." Former Debbie Dingle star Charley Webb commented: "The best doggy Mama there ever was."
Tracy Metcalfe actress Amy Walsh, who is currently on maternity leave, shared: "Aw Izzy. I’m so sorry to hear that." Laura Norton, who stars as Kerry Wyatt in the ITV soap, posted: "Oh Iz. I have no words. The little apple to your pie. He will be greatly missed." Amy Wyatt actress Natalie Ann Jamieson added: " Ahhh sorry to hear this is."
Ex-Emmerdale star Chelsea Halfpenny, who previously played Amy in the ITV soap, also shared: " So so gutted for you Izzy. What a perfect companion he was. Angel Pierre."
Fans were also quick to share their support. @lindamckenzie_ wrote: "So sorry for your loss, pugs are wonderful companions and the most loving dogs I know." @xaimee_cummingx commented: "It’s the saddest day when you lose your dog they’re not just a pet they’re family! Sending you so much love."
