ITV Emmerdale's Paddy faces backlash from fans over Marlon scenes

Paddy Kirk received backlash from Emmerdale fans for his reaction to Marlon Dingle's stroke.

In scenes that aired last week, Marlon was hit with symptoms of a stroke as he saw his face seizing up in the mirror. He collapsed before being rushed to the hospital.

After regaining consciousness, it was confirmed that Marlon had lost the use of his speech, as he was seen struggling to pronounce easy words. Seeing his friend unable to complete what were once simple tasks, Paddy has been very distressed.

In tonight's episode, the Dingles prepared a video to send to Marlon in hospital but worried he was being fake, Paddy buckled under the pressure and recorded an inadequate message. He was also scolded by Rhona for failing to support Marlon properly.

Viewers at home were similarly disappointed with Paddy's actions. One tweeted: "Paddy being there would have helped A LOT! Marlon genuinely needs Paddy now."

Teena said: "Paddy’s only thinking about how he feels, he needs to think about poor Marlon."

Jennifer added: "Paddy needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and think of Marlon, he's supposed to be his best mate get over yourself Paddy."

And Anvi said: "Still very disappointed in Paddy with his attitude to Marlon's stroke."

Though Grianne disagreed, tweeting: "Can't believe people are actually hating on Paddy for supposedly making it all about him really?

"Marlon and Paddy have been there for each other literally from the very start."
