ITV Emmerdale's David Metcalfe receives diagnosis as confused viewers spot problem

Emmerdale viewers spotted a problem as David Metcalfe was diagnosed with whiplash.

Thursday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the character's money woes. The character has been hit by financial trouble as his shop struggles to recover after the pandemic.

David was involved in a car crash with Nicola King on an episode earlier this week. He has feigned a neck injury to the insurance company to claim compensation after the collision.

Victoria Sugden and Eric Pollard believed David's lie, but urged him to see a doctor to confirm the extent of his diagnosis. David booked an appointment with Dr Liam Cavanagh who said he is suffering with whiplash.

He said: "If it sounds like whiplash, it feels like whiplash then it probably is whiplash." However, viewers following the show on Twitter were distracted during the scene as they were taken aback by how quickly David could get an appointment.

Chlod said: "The fakest thing about #emmerdale is David managing to get a same day GP appointment"

Jason commented : "He soon got a docs appointment"

Steve added, alongside a no way gif: "A doctor's appointment on the same day"

Carole responded: "A doctor's appt full stop!"

John tweeted: "There’s fiction and then there’s fiction. But I think we’ve really hit peak fiction if David has managed to get a doctor's appointment the same day."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub
