ITV Emmerdale Paddy Kirk actor Dominic Brunt announces career change

Emmerdale fans keen to follow the real life career of loveable character Paddy Kirk may be interested to know that the actor who plays Paddy, Dominic Brunt, has taken a sidestep from acting. While Dominic has portrayed the popular vet in ITV's Emmerdale for the past 25 years, the soap star has now confirmed that he has been directing a new film.

Announcing his latest career venture he confirmed the premier of the production, Wolf Manor, had taken place at Leicester Square. The actor wrote: "Thank you to @FrightFest for hosting our Leicester Square premier last night. An amazing evening. @wolfmanorfilm Feeling rancid on the 6am train to Leeds this morning but full of pride for our cast and crew.”

Wolf Manor was written by Joel Ferrari and Pete Wild. It stars James Fleet, from The Vicar of Dibley, and John Henshaw, from Early Doors. Dominic is the director of this UK filmed movie.

Off screen, Dominic is a horror film buff, according to Liverpool Echo, and has previously worked on other films such as Attack of The Adult Babies and Evie. It is useful for him to have an extra trick up his sleeve as he has previously spoken of his fears for being axed from Emmerdale.

During an interview previewing the ITV soap's 50th anniversary plans he opened up on how he would feel if he were to be written out. He said: “If I was to go tomorrow though, I wouldn’t complain because I’ve had 25 amazing years – but long may it continue. I absolutely love that job to pieces. I can’t explain to you what it means to me.”

He added: “I saw a picture the other day for the 25th anniversary and I’m in the picture, and I just think ‘oh my god, 25 years ago?’ It feels like seven. Your life just flashes along so quickly, but I’ve been so lucky."
