Emmerdale fans were left wondering if a new character had joined the soap as they sported a major change. Those tuning into the ITV soap on Thursday night (November 10) saw Heath Hope make a reappearance with his fellow village youngsters.
He was seen in the cafe about to enjoy a milkshake with Arthur Thomas when April Windsor arrived. It soon transpired that they had all been 'urgently' summoned to the by Heath's twin sister Cathy.
But as soon as she arrived, she claimed she and her brother had agreed to walk Vinny Dingle's new dog, Chip, and that they needed to go. Heath appeared reluctant, saying he hadn't even drank his drink yet. But Cathy continued with her orders and the pair hurried out leaving April and Arthur alone.
And it was all part of Cathy's plan to get her friends together, who clearly have a crush on each other. However, April was left confused when her suggestion of going to the cinema together was shut down by Arthur. He then made his excuses, saying he had homework, in order to leave
But Emmerdale fans were more distracted by how grown-up Heath looked as the character, played by Sebastian Dowling, rarely appears on the show – and could be seen sporting long brunette hair in a huge change from his previous look.
@RyanGSoapKing11 tweeted: "OMG Heath looks so different #Emmerdale." @VampLover27 asked: "Has Heath had a head swap or is it just because he’s hardly ever on screen in person?? #Emmerdale." @Jamal06122771 posted: "OK we finally see Heath, the other twin, well not his face, but a head of shaggy hair, and a deep voice. #emmerdale."
To which @ChrisHydeCoope1 replied: "Is that who it was????? #Emmerdale." @Lydiargh_ shared: "Blimey! Didn't recognise Heath there #Emmerdale." @BIsbeki commented: "Has heath got a new head... dont seem to recognise him #emmerdale." @KyleSew2112 added: "Scuse me why does Heath now look like hes just come out from 1986 #emmerdale."
Sebastian has played Heath since 2007, taking over from Lilith Kitching and Ella Whitehouse Downes who both played the son of Bob and Viv Hope as a baby. And Gabrielle Dowling, who is well known for playing Cathy, is the young actor's real-life sister.
While Gabrielle has appeared in Emmerdale since she was four weeks old, Sebastian had to join later. Gabrielle recently said of playing Cathy in the ITV soap: "I’ve been in the soap since I was four weeks old so it’s second nature to me. It’s one big family, everyone gets on and it’s a great atmosphere to work in."
