Emmerdale fans have been sending the same simple message to show bosses as Liv Flaherty's mum made a return. Sandra Flaherty was last seen in the ITV soap last year when she reunited with her daughter at a caravan park in Wales as her alcohol addiction spiraled.
The two continued to drink together throughout the reunion before Sandra panicked when she witnessed Liv suffering a seizure. Her brother Aaron, who had tracked Liv down, explained that Liv had epilepsy and Sandra realized she was not fit to look after Liv and told her to return to the village.
Since then, after a hard battle, Liv managed to get herself sober and reunite with boyfriend Vinny Dingle with the pair having become husband and wife after eloping. But their simple married life was rocked during scenes aired on Friday night (July 8) as Sandra waltzed back into their lives.
The alcoholic, who is played by actress Joanne Mitchell in the ITV soap, was begging her daughter for help as she insisted she wanted to change. Vinny wasn't convinced but Liv did appear to be willing to helo. However, they did send her on her way before Sandra was found drunk in the graveyard by Liv and pal Gabby Thomas.
Liv fell for Sandra’s act and ended up inviting her to stay with her. But her true reasons for being back in Liv's life were hinted at the end of the episode as Vinny overheard his mother-in-law picking up a phone call. "I said I’d ring you when I get the chance," she said. "It’s fine, you’ll get your money soon. Everything’s in hand. Talk later."
When Vinny asked her if everything was okay, she lied and said: "Everything’s grand. Just an old mate wanting to catch up. Never enough hours in the day, is there?"
As viewers have to wait and see what Sandra's real plans are, Emmerdale fans did make one thing very clear. @JordanPhelps21 tweeted: "I swear if #Emmerdale split Liv and Vinny up! I am gonna scream! Leave them alone!" @ChewBarker78 fumed: "Here we go again. Another s***ty story to ruin someone’s life. Leave Liv and Vinny alone! #Emmerdale."
The drama started after the pair were finally seen back on screen together, much to fans' delight. @xKellieLou said: "Nice to see Liv and Vinny back on-scene #Emmerdale." @RyanGSoapKing11 commented: "Can't believe the wedding was 4 months ago Liv and Vinny needed more screen time I'm glad they have got it #Emmerdale."
