ITV Emmerdale fans ask for 'more' as they complain over 'pointless' part in 'brilliant' Bob and Bernice scenes

Emmerdale fans were left full of praise for the soap after witnessing Bob Hope and Bernice Blackstock's takeover of the B&B. The pair were confirmed as the new owners of Eric Pollard's former business just a number of weeks ago and they've already had the decorators in and announced the B&B has reopened.

But despite their praise, viewers of the ITV soap did point out a 'pointless' element to Wednesday night's episode (February 22). During the latest trip to the Dales, Bernice was left looking sheepish after she woke up having slept with the harpist she had hired for the re-opening of The Grange.

Meanwhile, Bob was rushed off his feet having to deal with Bernice's list of jobs to get down before The Grange welcomed its guests. And when Bob questioned Bernice about her whereabouts, she kept her dalliance a secret, but had to come clean when Tim was a no-show.

Bob was then instructed by Bernice to go and fetch Tim just as Nicola and Jimmy King arrived along with Rishi Sharma. But the former barman looked like he had seen a ghost as she had to tell Bernice that Tim wouldn't be performing and that he was "a little bit incapacitated".

As she threatened to go get him herself, Bob told Bernice: "Tim the harpist is dead." They then had to form a plan to get rid of their guests so that they could get Tim seen to but as Bernice started her speech, a renowned local reviewer arrived and she quickly backed out of her original plan.

Later, as the reviewer and photographer headed upstairs and were about to enter the new 'Judi Dench' room, where Tim was laying 'dead', Bernice and Bob desperately pretended it was haunted. As she was asked to describe the ghostly sighting, Bernice said: "We don’t really know for sure but it’s definitely a man with an incredibly pale face and he always wears a white suit."

It was at that point that the door swung open to reveal Tim making his way out of the room, explaining that he took a sleeping pill due to Bernice's 'walrus snoring' and overslept. And some felt the death 'twist' wasn't necessary.

@ASuperGav tweeted: "Why the hell was that ‘dead harpist’ story included? Totally pointless #Emmerdale." @DavidHe47935675 complained: "Thats a waste of 15 minutes of ma life! Am gonna have to go kill the Harpist maself(for the coppers in real life this is a joke) bloody annoying now #emmerdale."

However, others were full of praise for Bob and Bernice's latest scenes - and want more. @dannyb86 tweeted: "#emmerdale #itv this is turning very Basil Fawlty and Fawlty Towers tonight, with trying to hide what they believe is the “dead” body of the harpist. More Emmerdale scenes Producers featuring Bob and Bernice please! Edit: He ISN’T dead. I wasn’t expecting that!"

@rmcd80 echoed: "Pure comedy gold episode, these two are a class act!!! More of Bernice and Bob please.." @ourhomeat_no70 said: "Love Bob & Bernice! So funny!" @hutchmonster wrote: "Fantastic episode for months. Back to some light hearted fun again like Paddy n Marlon days. So fun much needed nowadays, thank you."

@kimhorgan59 commented: "It’s about time we had a bit of comedy back, there’s far to much doom and gloom lately. We need more scenes like this." @stephandharryandjack shared: "Both hilarious put them together and it's even funnier." @nick7481 added: "These two together are absolutely hilarious! A double act has been created! Tonight’s episode was such a good laugh!!"
