The crew of an ITV drama were 'attacked' by angry locals as they filmed in a small village.
Stars Marc Warren and Maimie McCoy were among the cast to receive a frosty reception as they shot on location for the third series of their drama.
Whilst many would be excited to see a film crew rock up to their small town, it wasn't the case for the cast of new series of Van Der Valk.
They filmed in a quiet region in the Netherlands for just four days, but clearly caused upset as they were told to "get lost".
“We filmed in this gorgeous little village with just one through road – and the villagers hated us being there," Maimie McCoy revealed.
She said the locals would be stuck in traffic and beep their horns as they were filming.
"It would be like: ‘Get lost! Get out of our place'," she told The Sun's TV Mag.
Maimie, who plays feisty detective Lucienne in the show, also explained how one of the caravans they were staying in was vandalised.
The actress shared how a woman smashed the back window in the middle of the night.
She added: "Sometimes people get very excited about film crews but it was the opposite there.”
Whilst co-star Marc Warren warned to "never left a crew film in your village".
The crime drama series was rebooted back in 2020 as a re-imagined version of the 70s hit.
Actor Marc Warren made his debut as crimefighter Simon "Piet" Van der Valk in the three part series.
The first series followed Van der Valk as he investigated the murder of two political activists in Amsterdam.
However, upon its return many fans were upset at the lack of theme tune, though the mini series did pay a little nod to the original music.
One viewer said: "The original Van Der Valk had theme music. Was the whole point of it. #VanDerValk."
"If you're going to do a reboot of a classic program then at least keep the original music. #VanDerValk," another wrote;
Someone else commented: "Apparently, when I was a baby, I used to bob up and down whenever the Van Der Valk music came on. No bobbing tonight #VanDerValk."
