ITV Dancing On Ice's Connor Ball gives injury update after horror pre-show fall

Connor Ball had a Dancing On Ice horror on Sunday night after a painful fall just before the show went live put back his performance.

The Vamps star and partner Alexandra Shauman were due to open the show with the Charleston-inspired routine to Out Of Our Heads by Take That for the competition's 'dance week'.

However, this wasn't revealed until later, after they performed, when Connor was seen having to compress an injury on his chin.

The musician revealed he had taken a fall before the live broadcast, cutting open his chin.

He was left clutching a tissue to the injury as blood leaked onto his collar after the cut reopened during his routine.

Explaining what had happened, guest host Stephen Mulhern said: "I don’t know if you can see this but Dancing On Ice is completely live and Connor was meant to open the entire show, but had an accident before the show.

"He had stitches before the show so he couldn’t go on first and they have now opened up."

Connor added: "I was a bit stressed about the spin so I kept trying to perfect the spin and I slipped out and smacked my face on the ice."

Judge and legendary skater Christopher Dean tried to show a scar on his own chin and told Connor: "Welcome to the club. We all get it eventually. That means you’re becoming a professional skater."

The 25-year-old still earned himself an impressive 33 points out of 40 for his latest performance on the ITV skating competition and made it safely through to next weekend's show.

And Connor has given an update.

Shortly after the show, Connor uploaded a video of himself to the social media platform showing his nasty-looking injury.

But he ended up having to compress his chin after his stitches split open (ITV)

"Yo, what's up everyone?" he began. "

"As you can see, bit of an eventful evening today. Just before we were meant to go on the show tonight, we were meant to open the show, I had a bit of a fall and hit my face off the ice.

"Luckily it's been stitched up now. I had five stitches."

He also shared a post on his Instagram page, featuring a snap taken before his accident.

"Well, that was an interesting night… smashed my face off the ice then scored our highest score so far of the show!

"But honestly thank you so much to everyone that jumped in to help so quickly, everyone on the show is bloody awesome and I’m lucky to be surrounded by great people."

Connor added: "Ps. the last photo is the shirt i SHOULD’VE worn before it got covered in blood."

Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse told him: "Get well dude."

And skating partner Alex insisted: "Connor Fall is NOT back," before continuing: "Honestly so proud of you partner, you smashed it, literally and you are a rockstar for getting back out there!

"Takes so much courage! Huge thank you to everyone on the team-wouldn’t have been able to do it without you."

Fans were also quick to show their support and tell him what a 'trooper' he was.
