The new series of Dancing on Ice has begun and it has already got viewers hot under the collar. Some fans have called out the former Love Island contestant Ekin-Su for her outfit choice but in her defence, others are calling for more support for the reality TV show winner, with one viewer saying "I thought women were meant to lift each other up...".
After performing what Holly Willoughby described as the 'sexiest dance ever' viewers took to social media threating to take their complaints to Ofcom. Boos from the audience were heard and viewers branded the performance 'inappropriate for a show starting at 7pm after the star re-enacted her Love Island 'crawl' while wearing a skimpy sequined thong leotard.
Social media users soon came to Ekin-Su's defence. One Twitter user wrote: "Everyone over the age of 30 telling Ekin Su to cover up, she’s wearing a body suit from her ankles to her neck but because it’s skin coloured you lot have a problem. Get a grip #DancingOnIce".

Another said: "Just seen Ekin-Su is basically wearing glittery knickers and I’m telling you guys if I had her body I’d wear glittery knickers to f***ing Sainsbury’s #dancingonice #DOI". The comments continued with a third adding: "The jealousy coming from girls who are sl*t shaming Ekin Su. Let me just clear something up. It's week one. It wasn't her chorography, the leotard was designed for her. I thought women were meant to lift eachother up... Funny that #dancingonice". Another agreed: "Also if people could remember that Ekin didn’t choreograph that routine or choose the costume before they start slagging her off for it that would be great #dancingonice".
Spotted in the audience of the show, partner Davide showed his support for Ekin and proudly gave her a standing ovation for her debut performance. He appeared on Good Morning Britain on Monday, January 16, confirming his support. Judges gave the dance a mix of 5s and 6s. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean asked for more technical elements going forward though.
Ekin-Su failed to get the voting public's support for her performance, she will now face the skate off on the ITV show.
