ITV Corrie star opens up about his struggles as he says 2022 has dealt him the 'biggest lows'

Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan has become a popular addition to Weatherfield since returning as a reformed character earlier this year. After bursting onto the scene last year as a drug dealer groomed by Harvey Gaskell, who ensnared Simon Barlow into their gang, in February Jack, who plays Jacob Hay, was revealed to be Amy Barlow's secret boyfriend.

The couple have since moved into 19a Victoria Street in a flat-share with Summer Spellman and Aaron Sandford, with Jacob landing work in the sales department at Underworld. Actor Jack took to Instagram Stories to reflect on the highlights of his 2022, including the formation of 'Jamy' - Jacob and Amy, played by Elle Mulvaney.

"I'm continually overwhelmed by the love and support you guys have shown for the character and for me. It's been mega to see people get behind Jacob's journey," he typed about his role in Corrie.

Jack, as a proud testicular cancer survivor, also included in his stellar moments getting the opportunity to share his journey on Lorraine and becoming an ambassasor for the Teenage Cancer Trust. "This was one of the proudest moments of my life," he wrote.

Jack also included walking his fellow actor sister Rebecca Ryan down the aisle with their brother Charlie on her wedding day in September, saying it was "the best moment of my life to date." Former Shameless star Rebecca, who played Adam Barlow's stalker Lydia Chambers in the ITV soap, married Dan Acraman in September.

After listing his highlights, Jack took care to show solidarity with others struggling to say 2022 had also dealt him his "biggest lows" and credited his loved ones for helping him to get through.

"Evidently this year has had some amzing highs but I think it's also important to share this year has without give me my biggest lows," he explained. "If I didn't have the most incredible family and friends I simply don't know how I would've got through this year."

He continued: "I know a lot of people have struggled mentally this year and I just want to say you're not alone." Jack signed off by saying his 2022 had ended on a positive note with some exciting news.
