ITV Corrie's Elle Mulvaney and Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe get thigh-high memo as they lead glam on soap red carpet

Coronation Street star Elle Mulvaney and Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe put their pins on display as they hit the red carpet in thigh-high dresses at the Inside Soap Awards 2022. The soap stars joined their colleagues and stars of fellow soaps Emmerdale and EastEnders.

Elle, who is best known for playing Amy Barlow in the ITV soap, donned a long-sleeved black gown with a daring thigh-high split and open back. She added a pair of white heels to the look while her brunette locks were styled loose and straight as she posed for the awaiting camera.

The soap actress was also seen posing with on-screen boyfriend Jack James Ryan, who plays Corrie's Jacob Hay. The actor looked dapper in a three-piece blue checked suit which he paired with a black shirt and matching shiny black shoes. The soap couple hit the red carpet together where they teased what was to come for them on the cobbles.

Amy and Jacob will take centre-stage in an "emotional" new storyline on the ITV soap later this year. Speaking to The Mirror, Elle and Jack revealed they were about to film "big" scenes, for a plot that will have "long-lasting" effects for the characters.

Mercedes McQueen star Jenifer, meanwhile, brought a splash of colour to proceedings, rocking a vibrant green dress. And she clearly got the memo as the figure-hugging, strapless gown also featured a thigh-high split with the addition of a thin waist belt. The 39-year-old opted for a matching green bag and a pair of green heels while her shiny locks had been styled into a classic updo.

Jennifer's cast mate Anna Passey looked just as gorgeous as she donned a classic plunging black velvet gown. The Sienna Blake star flaunted her legs on the red carpet as she teamed her all-black look with a pair of knee-high boots.

Elle's Corrie co-star Ellie Leach looked pretty in pink as she took to the red carpet. The actress, who is known for playing Faye Windass on the famous cobbles, looked worlds away from her character as she donned the pastel-coloured short, flowy dress which featured a turtle neck.

The 21-year-old star accessorised her look with a cute handbag and added a pair f towering hot pink heels to her feet as she gave a dazzling smile for the cameras.

During the ceremony, EastEnders star Lacey Turner has been awarded the all-time icon gong at the Inside Soap Awards, on a night where the long-running soap dominated the field. The actress, who plays Stacey Slater, was given the top accolade at the annual ceremony, which saw more than 90,000 votes cast across a broad spread of categories.

EastEnders also racked up several major wins, including the highly sought-after best soap award, best actress, best showstopper and best newcomer. Emmerdale, which celebrated its 50th birthday this week, also picked up a string of accolades. Mark Charnock was awarded best actor for his portrayal of Marlon Dingle’s fight back from a debilitating stroke, which was also named best storyline.

Marlon’s relationship with Rhona Dingle, played by Zoe Henry, was celebrated as best romance. Meanwhile, Paige Sandhu was also crowned best villain for the second year running, for her performance as serial killer Meena Jutla.

The show’s milestone anniversary was also recently celebrated by the King at the National Television Awards, who sent a special message to the cast and crew.

Corrie's wildly popular Dame Maureen Lipman was again awarded best comic performance for her role as the acid-tongued Evelyn Plummer. And Isabella Flanagan, who plays Hope Stape on the show, won best young performance, beating her real-life older sister, three-time winner Amelia Flanagan, who plays Emmerdale’s April Windsor, to the prize.

Hollyoaks’ Anna and Kieron Richardson were named best double act thanks to the team-up of their long-running characters Sienna and Ste Hay. While Australian soap Neighbours, which screened its final episode in July, was commemorated as best daytime soap, with show stalwart Stefan Dennis, who played Paul Robinson, named best daytime star.
