Phill Whittaker is a man to wear his heart on his sleeve and in tonight's Coronation Street he displayed his feelings through music and cue cards. The newly-married man has been left devastated after being dumped on his wedding day by bride Fiz Stape, and he still has no idea that she's back in the arms of her ex Tyrone Dobs.
After a romantic meal with a mariachi band failed Phill took a different direction in Wednesday night's Corrie. Fiz was absolutely stunned when he arrived outside Underworld factory with a boombox blaring out the love song In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, copying the trench coat-wearing John Cusack in the classic rom-com Say Anything
Sporting an eighties-style quiffed hairdo Phill grabbed the attention of not only Fiz but also her colleagues at the knicker factory who came outside to watch And awkwardly they were also joined by Tyrone who was passing by.

There was much hilarity when he switched the music to play Silent Night as he then paid homage to the famous scene from the Christmas film Love Actually. In the classic film Mark, played by Andrew Lincoln, declares his unrequited love for Keira Knightley's character Juliet by holding up a series of cards.
In Weatherfield Phill held up cards containing the words of Fiz’s favourite love songs, but to the amusement of the factory staff he got the cards badly muddled up, accidentally telling her "I love your wind."
And fans took to Twitter to say it was about time Phill gave up. @_Ce_Ce__ complained: "Here comes the 'Love Actually' cringe! Oh dear....Phill has DEFINITELY watched too many romcoms!" @sofaneilas exclaimed: "Oh God, it's Love, Actually time now!"
@CaroleAnn1982 wrote: "Dear @itvcorrie I've never seen any of the films that Phill is parodying so you've lost me on these extremely cringeworthy, painful scenes." @mrsjhutch28 grumbled: "These scenes with Phill are making me cringe, just tell him Fiz. What love are you wanting her to fight for Phill, on your wedding day she told you that she only thought she had loved you, give it up!!!"
@JV2theP said: "No Phill… you are not, and never will be, a patch on John Cusack…"@Melwelshbird begged: "#Corrie omg this #Phill thing is really cringy, make it stop.." And @mikepriestley13 said: "This is totally embarrassing from Phill seriously."
But @sofaneilas said: "'You Are Beneath Me. Babe You All Crazy. Love Your Wind.' LMAO! Aw poor Phill haha but that was hilarious!" @Melissnahhhhh laughed: "Phill is hilarious." And @BrettHadley42 said: "The humour / serious tone ratio of #Corrie writing this last week has been brilliant. Superb even."
Phill's gesture became the talk of the cobbles, and fans may recall Coronation Street had screened a similar scene back in December. Smitten Curtis Delamere professed his love for Emma Brooker after being sent packing by his bride on their wedding day.
Emma showed Curtis the door after he was wrongly accused of stealing £100,000 meant for a charity in memory of her half brother Oliver Battersby. Then Curtis turned up with cue cards in an attempt to win Emma back, telling her 'I'm sorry' and 'I love you.'
