Coronation Street teen Summer Spellman has been forced to confront her secret eating disorder after best friend Amy Barlow raised concerns with her adopted dad Billy Mayhew. Corrie fans have seen Summer overwhelmed with stress revising for her exams while battling with bulimia and managing her type one diabetes.
A worried Amy recently caught Summer throwing up after eating and she told Billy. Billy has since been keeping an eye on Summer and in Friday night's episode he told her he'd arranged for Summer to attend a diabetes support group and that her revision could wait.
But as Summer despaired about missing precious revision time, Coronation Street viewers were distracted by the detail in Billy's kitchen at 19a Rosamund Street. Corrie podcast The Talk of the Street had a niggle about a gap under the cooker hood not being tiled like the rest of the kitchen space and instead being adorned with Billy's alpine scene tree-patterned wallpaper.

@corriepodcast tweeted: "You'd tile this bit, wouldn't you?" And@jonjo1985 replied: "Never noticed that before, but yes, you’d have to, surely?" @MsNottledim asked: "Yes, but which tiles would you use?" and @corriepodcast replied: "Another row of the black ones, I reckon." @Denlives1 agreed: "You absolutely would, drives me mad."
This prompted other Corrie fans to grumble about the state of Billy's cupboards. @Denlives1 tweeted: "It also bothers me that his cupboards are clearly not deep enough to hold plates." And @cbrmj68 said: "The depth of the kitchen cupboards gets me, in all of the properties....you wouldn't get a stack of dinner plates in them!"
And @Tillymint53 picked fault with the wallpaper. "I'd get rid of that bloody wallpaper," they said. "Feels like I'm sitting in a log cabin in the wilds of Alaska freezing my t**s off."
Summer, played by Harriet Bibby, reluctantly went along to the group and met Aaron, a fellow diabetic. Fans were left wondering if this could be the start of a new romance for Summer and the friendly newcomer.
@bredrew2 said: "I wouldn't mind Aaron & Summer as a potential couple." And @allforcorrie wrote: "Another great performance from @HarrietBibby. So happy Summer is getting the help she needs and is making new friends that can support her."
@FLady1980 tweeted: "Corrie aww Summer, he seems nice." @RyanGTweetsTV commented: "Summer's new friend seems nice."
@Iongwayoff said: "Praying this guy Summer likes isn’t dodgy." And @moore95_pamela wrote: "Aaron is a lovely young man. Looks like Summer may finally stop moping and take her diabetes seriously."
