ITV Coronation Street youngster Jude defends Manchester speech as he shares first look at cobbles return

Coronation Street star Jude Riordon has defended his latest social media post thanks to its 'Manchester' tone.

The young actor is best known for playing Sam Blakeman on the ITV soap.

Ten-year-old Jude took to Instagram and Twitter as he headed back to work on the cobbles this week.

Posing on the famous set, the youngster was keeping warm in a big blue ITV-branded puffer jacket.

"Cold and wet on them cobbles this morning," he captioned the post. "All done and back to school for me."

But Jude ended up following up his initial tweet with another, explaining his use of 'them cobbles' after it was flagged by some of his followers.

For example, one said: "Good boy. Love your character. At school you will learn “those cobbles” is correct, not “them cobbles”. Have fun!"

"As in on them there cobbles or that there London," the soap star said. "I'm in Y6 I know it's those."

He then added: "When in Manchester and all that."

And he was soon backed up.

"Jeez…. Speaking northern … leave the lad alone," @Anna24028405 said.

"That's a bit picky," @JazzyallaAnna added.

Jude is more often than not being applauded by Corrie fans.

He was dubbed the ''nations little star" after he shared a look back at 2021 on New Year's Eve.

Jude had shared a video showing off some of the snaps he's shared throughout the year - from being on the Corrie cobbles to ones with his Brassic co-stars including Michelle Keegan.

2021 was a big year for the young actor after picking up his first major award.

Jude collected the newcomer gong at the National Television Awards back in September.

He was given his award by some of the stars of Love Island 2021 and he had viewers giggling when he had to be held up to the mic by host Joel Dommett.

Prior to that, he bagged Best Newcomer at the Inside Soap awards, and in November he got a Pride of St Helen's award.
