Coronation Street has shared a first look at the aftermath of Phill Whittaker and the new Fiz Whittaker's wedding day. During Friday night's trip to the cobbles, it was finally time for the new-ish couple to get hitched.
The fancy ceremony, filmed for the ITV soap in Cheshire, got underway after a week of drama for the bride and groom, particularly discovering Fiz' daughter Hope had been going out of her way to derail the wedding. The youngster eventually relented and donned her bridesmaid dress, providing Fiz's ex Tyrone Dobbs would come along.
Before she left his flat, Tyrone gifted Fiz with a pair of earrings, but not just any earrings. They were a pair of pearl sparklers which the mechanic's honourary dad Jack Duckworth brought for his wife Vera for an anniversary. And the sentimental gift, days after telling her he still loved her, saw Tyrone clearly get into Fiz's head.

While the machinist looked set to buckle during the vows in front of a few of her friends, Fiz made it through and she and Phill were officially announced husband and wife. But just hours later, during the reception at the Bistro, Fiz pulled a tearful Phill to one side and told him their marriage was already over.
As she did a runner, Phill took to the mic and performed an emotional rendition of Build Me Up (Buttercup). But as the latest episode of Corrie ended, viewers saw Fiz back in the arms of Tyrone as they kissed on the cobbles - with Fiz still in her wedding dress and the ink barely dried on her wedding certificate.
Next week, after being jilted by bride Fiz, played by Jennie McAlpine, an in denial Phill, portrayed by Jamie Kenna, pull out all the stops as he attempts to woo his estranged wife once more.
Unaware that Tyrone is the reason for Fiz’s change of heart, Phill embarks on a series of stunts to prove the depth of his love to Fiz - including this grand gesture with a Mariachi band!
Jamie said: "I think love is blind and love can make us do very, very out of character things. So he goes through pretty much a full wardrobe of dress up clothes in an attempt to create certain scenarios to win her back! He just tries every single thing romantically he can think of but from the outside looking in it's kind of painful and cringe worthy to watch bless him."
Can Phill make his bride fall in love all over again or is Fiz’s heart truly back with Tyrone? We'll have to wait and see but Jamie says the wedding day drama was 'absolutely devastating' for his character. "The whole pack of cards comes tumbling down," he said. It’s his perfect day, with his perfect woman, it’s the moment he’s been waiting for his entire life. He’s got his grandmother's ring, whose dying wish was for him to give it to someone he loves, which he does.
"They’ve had their ups and downs, they’ve got over the sabotage going on but they’ve finally made it down the aisle. She looked him in the eyes, there was a little stumble at the wedding but it’s all good, they’ve got over everything as far as he’s concerned. So it’s utter shock.
"That being said he's not stupid. I think he senses throughout the day that something's maybe not quite right, so when Fiz turns round and says she needs to speak to him, I think he knows. But it's just utter devastation, there's no other word for it, his world implodes."
But all the drama on Friday night has left Corrie fans divided with many sharing the same feelings about Phill. @meinirann said: "I’m disappointed as I really like Phil and Fizz as a couple." @catherallkelly echoed: "Poor Phil, really wanted them to be happy together! Disappointed."
@teenamassam tweeted: "Gotta feel sorry for Phil, no idea why Fiz carried on with the wedding, she knew before she spoke her vows… #Corrie." @mishybabez_ echoed: "Aw I feel sorry for Phill. He really loves Fiz and she dumps him on their wedding day. #Corrie."
However, others think it was the right ending. @mikepriestley13 said: "Fiz and Tyrone back together. Like it should be. Tho fiz could of said something miles earlier to phill when the wedding was being paid for #Corrie." @vickyd_81 shared: "Fiz & Ty forever. The ending was just the best." @alisonjanesymons added: "Fabulous. I knew it. True love can never be apart well done Corrie definitely the best outcome you left us hanging for a while though."
