Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has shared an important health reminder with her legions of followers. The actress, best known for playing Maria Windass in the ITV soap, took to Instagram with a message after heading for her own health check.
The soap star shared how she had recently gone for her smear test and told her thousands of followers the good news that results came back negative and went on to urge her followers to remember to book their check-ups.
Samia, who celebrated her 40th birthday over the summer, penned: "Just a random reminder to book your #smeartest if you're due one... Had mine last week, took a couple of mins, did not hurt at all and got result back today, all normal. Job done."
The mum-of-two then added: "Don't fear the smear. Getting it done might just save your life." She also pointed her fans in the direction of charity, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, telling them it is a "great" resource if "you need more info about smears."
Samia's health reminder comes after she shared a very moving tribute following the death of the Queen. The Corrie star, from Eccles, took to Instagram shortly after the news of Queen Elizabeth's death, at Balmoral aged 96, broke. She decided to share the last picture taken of the Queen last week as she prepared to meet the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss.
"End of an era," she wrote. "Thank you for everything you did. Our wonderful, humble Queen Elizabeth. #Restinpeace." She then later returned to social media to share images of the first and last time she met the late monarch. The first image had been put in a gold-edged frame and showed Samia shaking the Queen's hand.
Samia was locked in the Queen's glare while donning a smart black dress with her hair in curls and styled to one side. "Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth.. You gave your life to your role and we will forever be grateful. You were always humble, gracious, kind and strong.. The honour of meeting you will forever be amongst my most treasured memories."
She then added alongside a second photo from the Queen's most recent visit to the famous cobbles in 2021 after production re-opened following Covid and shortly after the soap celebrate its 60th year on air: "I hope you are reunited now with Prince Phillip and your precious Corgis."
