ITV Coronation Street's new on-screen love interests cosy up in sweet selfie

Summer Spellman and newbie Aaron made amends on Coronation Street last week after he gave her the cold shoulder when she revealed the extent of her struggles. The pair met at a diabetic support group after guardian Billy Mayhew discovered Summer wasn't taking her insuilin properly and making herself sick.

She quickly gravitated towards Aaron, played by James Craven, and they were soon meeting up outside the support group and appeared to be sharing a crush. However, earlier this month, Summer was crushed when her new friend said he didn't want to see her anymore. It came after he rushed off in the middle of a deep conversation in which Summer opened up about her struggle with her body image.

He tried to tell her she was 'gorgeous' but the future uni student bravely spoke about her eating disorder, clearly wanting to be honest before starting their romance. But Summer was left crushed when Aaron appeared uncomfortable and made a swift exit. But in scenes aired last week, Aaron paid a visit to Summer in hospital after he saw a picture she posted of her hooked up to machines.

The teen ended up having to leave her maths exam earlier after being unable to see. Summer hasn't been using her insulin and without her diabetes kit with her in the exam hall, she was taken to the hospital. While laid up in a hospital bed, Summer was questioned by her concerned guardian Billy Mayhew other whether her neglecting her condition was being done on purpose. Later, Aaron visited the hospital and apologised for previously rejecting her.

Off-screen, a beautiful friendship appears to be blossoming between the pair. Harriet Bibby, who has played Summer in Corrie since 2020, took to Instagram with a sweet selfie of the pair. It wasn't clear where the pair were but the co-stars looked happy as they posed for the camera.

Harriet stuck her tongue out as her blond locks were pulled back into a 90s style. She was seen wearing a white, high-neck top under a black hoodie while Jamie wore a sweatshirt over a white collared shirt. Sharing the post to her thousands of followers, Harriet simply tagged James with no other caption.

It comes after the 25-year-old soap star shared a bunch of snaps from her weekend at Neighbourhood Weekender. Harriet headed to the festival at Warrington's Victoria Park, where the likes of The Courteeners, Becky Hill, Kasabian and Blossoms took to the stage, with a few pals including Corrie co-star Elle Mulvaney, known for playing Amy Barlow.

"Neighbourhood weekending," Harriet captioned the string of snaps with featured a candid pic of the actress stood in front of the stage with in a cut-out green top and pair of retro shades. Another showed her posing in front of a red phonebox in a different outfit while she also jumped on the shoulders of a friend to get a better view of the action.

Harriet and James' latest union comes after a 'team' of Coronation Street's youngest stars were enjoying time together. Harriet, Elle James and Jack James Ryan once again proved they're a close-knit group on and off-screen. after Jack - who plays Jacob Hay in the ITV soap - shared a snap of the four-piece squad as they relaxed in a hot tub.
