ITV Coronation Street's Max star Paddy Bever posts tearful selfie after NTA win as former co-star Millie Gibson spotted swearing

Coronation Street star Paddy Bever couldn't hide his shock as he picked up his first major award. The actor, who plays Max Turner in the ITV soap, bagged the Rising Star gong at the 2022 National Television Awards on Thursday evening (October 13).

The young actor, who was recast in the role of David Platt's step-son in September last year, arrived at the dazzling awards bash alongside many of his Corrie co-stars including Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan), Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor), Charlotte Jordan (Daisy Midgley) and Antony Cotton (Sean Tully), to name just a few.

And after going up against Netflix stars Charithra Chandran, for her portrayal of Edwina Sharma in period drama hit Bridgerton and actors Joe Locke and Kit Connor, whose love story as Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson captured hearts in Heartstopper, Paddy was clearly stunned to have won the award.

And former co-star and friend Millie Gibson, who left Corrie last month after four years playing Kelly Neelan, also appeared shocked and pleased for Paddy as she was spotted swearing before jumping to from her chair and throwing her arms around the actor. @RyanJL spotted: "You're live on ITV, please do not swear @MillieGibson01 #NTAs."

After having a quick hug with Sally Ann, the soap star rushed up to the stage. "Erm, wow," she said after being awarded the silverware by presenter AJ Odudu and Emma Willis. He said that he 2hadn’t prepared a speech" because he didn’t think he would be able to beat the other "insane" stars nominated for the award.

The teenager went on to reveal that his role as Max is his "first ever acting job" as he thanked the cast, crew, God, and the viewers for helping him pick up his first-ever award.

But it appears Paddy is still lost for words as he took to Instagram with a selfie. It showed a close up of his face with tears filling his eyes and dropping onto his face. "THANK YOU," he simply wrote. Corrie was quick to post on their social media: "Incredibly proud of our Paddy. Thank you once again to everyone at home for voting."

And his soap co-stars have also been sharing messages. Responding to Corrie's post on Instagram, Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb in the ITV soap, wrote: " Yes, Paddy!! We bloomin adore you." Abi Webster actress Sally Carman added: " Amaaaaaaazing," while ex-Corrie actress Kel Allen (Laura Neelan) cheered: "Our rising star has risen!!! Well done our Paddy! We’re all so super proud of you and rightly deserved."

Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow in the ITV soap, shared Corrie's post to her Instagram Story and wrote: "Abolsutely over the moon our Paddy has won!!! So well deserved." Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby shared the NTA's post of Paddy's winning moment and said: "SO porud of you @paddybever."

And Jack James Ryan, who joined the soap in 2020 as Jacob Hay, paid a gushing tribute on his Instagram Story as he got emotional over his friend's success. "Crying those big boy tears," he confessed. "I share a dressing room with an NTA winner!?!?!?

"What a moment for our Pads, love or hat 'Max' as a character it's undeniable the amount of hard work and dedication this lad puts into his cratt to bring this character to screen. He's also an absolute gent and a complete and utter joy to be around. Truly elated for you @paddybever I love you brother."
