Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has left fans giggling as he told of the time he nearly had a 'fight' in Boots. The clip of the actor telling the tale was shared to Instagram via the Sofa Cinema Club podcast which he hosts with co-stars Colson Smith and Ben Price.
Jack, who is famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, could be seen on stage at the intimate gig the trio put on for their podcast last year at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation in Manchester.
Sharing the clip to the podcast's own Instagram page, the caption read: "Here it is… we’ve teased it on the podcast, now finally we can reveal Jack’s ‘@bootsuk’ story that he told at our live show!" The soap stars then asked: "Who was in the right, Jack or the woman?"

"I nearly had a fight," Jack kicks off saying as Colson, who plays PC Craig Tinker in Corrie, chipped in to tell the laughing audience: "Pwoar! As you can tell Jack's a proper man's man. Loves a fight." He added: "To be fair, he's always scrapping," as Nick Tilsley actor Ben interjected: "You're a right scrapper!"
Jack then continued on: "It was in Manchester. You know Boots the chemist?" Before he could carry on Colson joked: "If you're going to pick a place..." before Ben said: "What an opening question." Trying again, Jack said: "So it's about three o'clock-ish and I needed some moisturiser."
His reason for popping out to the shop prompted laughs from the crowd as a stunned Ben interjected: "Hold on, Hold on, Hold on! You've just gone, [pulling a shocked face] 'I need some moisturiser!'" before mimicking someone running."
"I know, I know," Jack laughed. "So I'm there, right? I'm in the queue and I don't know about you but whenever I'm queuing up for something there's always someone f***ing returning something in front of me. Do you know what I mean? And there's this old boy there and he's taking ages, bless him..."
"You nearly had a fight with an old man?" Colson concerningly quizzed, as Jack quickly clarified: "No, it's not the old man. I notice there's a queue jump coming in from stage left. She's rogue, she's a sniper and she's got some wipes in her hand. She's just hovering."
He went on: "Simple wipes is straight in, straight in. Well, I've seen f***ing red. I've gone, 'Scuse me!'" As Ben suggested the shopper had 'given it the David Platt,' Jack said: "Do you know what she's done? 'I was there before you'. The cashier on the desk said, 'Yeah, she was!'" drawing gasps from the audience.
The 34-year-old shared how he screeched in response: "Are you joking?" before telling the crowd: "I'm flabbergasted. I cannot believe she's saying this. I said, 'are you joking?' She says, 'she was' and then she comes up with some b******t story and says, 'I was over there serving her, I got buzzed on the buzzer to come help and now this lady is next.'"
Ben said: "She's got a point," before Colson agreed and added: "I think she's got a point." Ben went on: "You know what's happened? She's been at another till. She's been moved." Jack wasn't having it as he replied: "No, no, no!" as Ben quipped: "Like we were all there." And it certainly sparked comments.
@kelbarneskb said: "'I'm with Jack we not standing in a queue for our health." But @maggienedved wrote: "I think the woman is right but the cashier should have went back to her original till after she finished helping the OG." Meanwhile, @claireh_fitness82 replied: "Totally on @jackpshepherd88 side, queue jumpers have got to go." While @vixiep added: "I work in retail and I just keep my head down and let the customers argue who’s next. I find it’s the safest thing to do."
The release of the clip comes after Colson spoke to the Manchester Evening News about the possibility of more shows. Talking to us exclusively last month at the unveiling of the new Weatherfield Precinct set, the actor said: "We had a really great time. We really enjoyed it. It was so much fun to do the podcast... we changed it slightly for the live show but it was so much fun to get on stage and me, Jack and Ben get on so well."
Asked whether he'd do more, he said: "Definitely. Definitely more in Manchester. I know there's so more stuff planned." But because only 140 people were allowed into the last one, Colson says they didn't have any guests of their own and told friends and family that if they wanted to come, they needed to buy a ticket.
And Jack's on-screen sister Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Barlow in Corrie, was the one to do just that. "Tina was like, 'I've got a ticket'. It sold out in 24 hours. She's hardcore. She loves the podcast and she said to us afterward [that] she really enjoyed it."
