ITV Coronation Street's Jack James Ryan says 'sorry' after co-star claim as he teases death for Jacob Hay

Coronation Street actor Jack James Ryan issued an apology to his co-star after claiming he had found his new 'best' on-screen partner. The latest trip to cobbles was quite dramatic for Jack as his character, Jacob Hay, risked being caught with drugs, thanks to his dad.

As viewers of the ITV soap know, Jacob first arrived on the cobbles as part of a drugs gang run by his uncle, Harvey Gaskell, back in 2020. After grooming Simon Barlow into the gang and tormenting his mum, Leanne Battersby, the character disappeared after crossing the ring leader.

However, he returned in 2021 and struck up a relationship with Amy Barlow. He has since been able to turn his life around, getting a solid job at Underworld while also settling in with Amy's family. That was until his estranged dad made an appearance in Weatherfield.

And it appears Damon, Harvey's brother, has drawn his son back into his murky world by getting him at the Bistro so he can keep an eye on the secret drug running. But it all went wrong during Wednesday night's Corrie and now Jacob is facing a life-changing decision.

In the latest scenes, viewers saw Jacob left suspicious when Damon told him that Dan's first delivery is due this afternoon and hidden in the crate of olive oil will be a package containing drugs. Expecting the first drugs delivery, Jacob is obviously stressed when a party of police officers arrived for a retirement do with their sniffer dog in tow.

When the crate of olive oil is delivered, Jacob manages to get the box into the kitchen, take the drugs and leave the Bistro faking feeling unwell. But when the sniffer dog starts to act suspiciously, his handler, along with PC Craig Tinker, took him into the kitchen where he barked at the crate.

While there was nothing to be found, fingers were pointed at Jacob and Craig headed straight for Jacob's flat. Locking himself in the bathroom Jacob hastily tipped the drugs down the toilet and flushed them away before facing Craig and his colleagues. They're soon given the all clear with Craig apologetic that they had to conduct a search.

Later, Jacob faced his dad in the ginnel and broke the news to that he destroyed the drugs. Damon was furious with his son and was prepared to give him a beating. However, as Jacob reacted, Damon warned that he needs to run or he'll die.

Taking to Twitter after the scenes, Jack James appeared to tease his character's death by tweeting: "Run and live or stay and die #Corrie." And Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy, appeared concerned as she replied with a string of cold sweat emojis.

And that came after he sent her an apology. Posting a photo to Twitter, Jack James could be seen cosying up to his latest co-star, the sniffer dog named Sinbad. "We’re best friends really!" he posted alongside the smiling snap. "Without a doubt the best co-star I’ve ever worked with!

"Sorry @ElleJMulvaney #Corrie," he added with a winking face emoj. But Elle didn't seem to mind as she responded by writing: "Understandable tbf." But fans were quick to respond to the post with praise for the soap star.
