Coronation Street stars have celebrated their 'next chapter' as the off-screen pals embarked on a new adventure on-screen. During the latest trip to the cobbles, viewers of the ITV soap saw Summer Spellman and boyfriend Aaron Sandford move in with Amy Barlow and Jacob Hay.
The quartet have decided to fly the nest and move in together at Toyah and the late Imran Habeeb's flat. Amy's mum Tracy was uncharacteristically emotional as her daughter officially moved out of No.1, despite having previously fled to her boyfriend's digs.
Meanwhile, Summer has decided to ditch the flat she shares with guardian Billy Mayhew as she lies about still being pregnant. The teen had gone for an abortion but after being propositioned by Billy's parishioners Esther and Mike.
The couple shared how they had been struggling to conceive and would pay Summer to go through with her pregnancy. After initially deciding against the idea, she had a change of heart when she realised Aaron needed money for his dad's place in rehab.
She has since agreed to go through with her pregnancy and hand over the baby to Esther and Mike, but hasn't told Billy, Todd Grimshaw or Paul Foreman about her decision and has instead moved out in a bid to hide her secret.
Taking to Instagram, Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy in Corrie, shared a behind-the-scene picture of the new housemates. The four-piece huddled on the sofa as they smiled for the camera. "Move-In Day! I guess you could call us a group of ‘Friends’ …" she typed.
Commenting on the sweet snap, Jack James, who plays Jacob Hay, wrote: "Imagine getting to work with your best pals day in day out." He also shared the post to his own Instagram Story and said: "Start of a brand new chapter tonight on the old cobbles.
"We've only gone and got our own little flat. Couldn't ask for a better work fam." Summer star Harriet Bibby also replied; "Besties," while James Craven, who plays Aaron added: "Iconic."
Elle then pointed fans in the direction of a TikTok the group had made. Elle, Harriet, Jack James, and James, could all be seen entering the flat one by one to the song known for being the American sitcom's theme tune.
As I'll Be There for You by The Rembrandts played out, the soap stars could be seen in character doing a selection of daily task such as cooking the dinner or waiting for the bathroom. They were also seen getting ready for Christmas before collapsing onto the sofa at the end of the 45-second clip.
But there was a bit of a blunder for Elle who went falling almost to the floor as the sofa separated leaving her co-stars in stitches. "'Buds' - The #Corrie Spin-off of ‘Friends’," Elle captioned the TikTok post. "Amy, Summer, Jacob & Aaron moved in together tonight - so we thought we’d make a BTS vid of life in the new flat."
Elle added in the comments: "Hope you all enjoy me falling through the couch at the end." And the Corrie TIkTok account also wrote: "That ending," with a crying laughing and clapping emoji to which the actress replied: "I don’t know what’s funnier, me falling through the couch, or everybody else falling about laughing."
