Sean Tully might be getting another new love interest. Antony Cotton appears to have confirmed Coronation Street's latest casting in a selfie he posted on social media.
The actor, who has played the Underworld machinist and Rover Return barman for 19 years, revealed that Robert Shaw Cameron has joined the cast of the ITV soap. Antony took to Instagram and Twitter to share a snap of the pair together at Corrie's summer bash which was held at The Ivy in Spinningfields earlier this week.
Alongside the picture, Antony, 43, wrote: "This one may be a keeper… @itvcorrie @ITV #RobShawCameron #Shaw #Laurence." Robert has previously appeared in Corrie – playing a police officer in a 2011 episode.

However, He has also had roles in Holby City and Heartbeat. And fans were quick to share their response to the possible new pairing. @ktblea7 tweeted: "Oh please god, you deserve this “Shaun” !! Xx" @Maureen01549184 replied: "Absolutely! You make a gorgeous couple." @GmaTimesEight said: "Love it!" @Gabbysherwin added: "Yes at last!"
It comes after unlucky in love Sean faced another set back in his dating life. Corrie viewers recently saw him enjoying dates with newcomer Frank Bardsley. The character, played by Simon O'Brien, made his first Weatherfield appearance at the end of May when he made his way into the Rovers Return where he got chatting to Sean while he waited for his latest date who he met online.
But after sharing his dating app mistake, Sean got him out of his predicament and fast forward a couple of weeks, the pair were enjoying a few dates themselves. However, when Frank was introduced to George Shuttleworth, it soon became apparent that they already know each other. George went on to confess all to partner Eileen Grimshaw in an emotional scene as he admitted that Frank used to bully him when they went to school together.
And earlier this month, despite George's girlfriend Eileen Grimshaw trying to convince people can change, Frank showed his true colours. He turned on Sean’s recently returned son Dylan after he was injured in a football match. But as Frank hit out at the teen for not fighting back during the game, Sean caught him and sent him packing.
In real life, Antony has been loved-up with long-term partner Peter Eccleston. The pair met on the set of the Coronation Street as Peter worked as an assistant props buyer for the show. And Peter was the first to praise his other half when it was revealed that Antony would be receiving an MBE.
The Bury-born soap star was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to British Army personnel and veterans. As well as his work on-screen, Antony has been involved with the military community since 2008 and was named as the first celebrity ambassador for military charity the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).
He is also a patron of Help For Heroes and was made the SSAFA’s 2022 ambassador for the defence inclusivity category. Antony's official association with the charities began following the return of a close friend from Afghanistan, who needed support.
